Biden's Health Care plan is NO better AND keeps corporations in the MIX
Seeing as people have been picking apart health care plans I decided to check out Biden's plan - and he doesn't even go NEAR universal health care coverage. From the first paragraph on his health care page:

"Joe Biden’s highest priorities – along with ending the war in Iraq – are universal health care and education. He will convene a national gathering of key health care stakeholders from labor, business, health care and government within the first 90 days of his administration to seize the historic opportunity created by the recognition from organizations ranging from Fortune 500 companies, the Business Roundtable and the AMA to the labor movement that the time has come for universal, affordable health care."

Health care STAKEHOLDERS? Guess who THEY are? Think the AMA and the HMO's are going to give up their gravy train? They won't have to the way this little 3 card monti *roundtable* is set up. But they sure will be in their fighting for THEIR rights.

not everyone wants an in your face plan...I don't.

I also think his plan will come closer to passing seamlessly than some of the others, which would take YEARS and many, many revisions.

Oh, and by the way, Joe's health care plan was based on John Kerry's.

14. No, they're not.
John Kerry's wasn't a "mandate" either.

Kerry's healthcare plan lets people choose their plan

Q: Where are you going to get the money to extend health-care coverage to children?

A: Two leading national news networks have both said Bush's characterization of my health-care plan is incorrect. One called it fiction. The other called it untrue. The fact is that my health-care plan, America, is very simple. It gives you the choice. I don't force you to do anything. It's not a government plan. The government doesn't require you to do anything. You choose your doctor. You choose your plan. If you don't want to take the offer of the plan that I want to put forward, you don't have do. You can keep what you have today, keep a high deductible, keep high premiums, keep a high co-pay, keep low benefits. Here's what I do: We take over Medicaid children from the states so that every child in America is covered. And in exchange, if the states want to-they're not forced to, they can choose to-they cover individuals up to 300 percent of poverty. It's their choice.

4. biden runs these nonsensical vanity presidential campaigns every so often.
What's amazing is that people would actually send donations & spend their valuable time helping him with it.

10. What's amazing is the time and effort some individuals spend
criticizing candidates they don't like, instead of working to support a candidate they do.

27. I have no problem with pointing out ïnconsistencies..
but some individuals seem to devote a lot of time to showing up on every thread that mentions a candidate they don't like to post shit like inferences the canididate "smells bad"..and then has the nerve to state that anyone supporting that candidate is "wasting their time"...oh the irony.

7. How exactly do you think health care reform is goingto happen?
With all due respect, any candidate's plan that is even slightly more agressive than Biden's doesn't stand a chance of happening. We all want sweeping reform but it just doesn't work that way. Biden's plan is sensible, will have an impact, but more importantly, actually has a chance of happening. I don't want anyone promising sweeping change that ISN'T going to happen.
One step at a time. That's how you accomplish true sustainable change, not in giant leaps. Universal healthcare is not going to come at once. It's going to happen over stages, gradually. And any candidate that says they can make it happen otherwise is simply giving you pie in the sky.

9. Exactly youthere.
You can't just shove a plan down people's throats. That's what Hillary tried to do many years ago, and we see how well that went....

(no offense to Hillary)

8. Why doesn't anyone understand?
If you say you are going to ban private health insurance you face $15 billion plus up against you by businesses who literally have their backs to the wall.

Has no one heard of strategy, tactics, maneuvers ? Jeez.

18. It's the kind of plan that could easily pass...
too bad, so sad. John will have to spend YEARS getting his passed, should he get the nod. I doubt he will, it will most likely be Hillary, but I can live with her plan too, because I can keep the insurance I have now, and not worry about having my wages garnished, or bill collectors calling me daily, since I will never pay for his stupid plan.

19. Huh...
Edwards' truly universal health care plan will ensure that every American has health insurance. He will require proof of insurance when income taxes are paid and when health care is provided. Families without insurance will be enrolled in Medicare, Medicaid, SCHIP or another targeted plan or be assigned a plan within new Health Care Markets.

Families who lose coverage will be expected to enroll in another plan or be assigned one. For the few people who refuse to pay, the government will help collect back premiums with interest and collection costs by using tools like the ones it uses for student loans and taxes, including collection agencies and wage garnishment.
