HRC says 'Be afraid.'
Eldridge, Iowa - Barack Obama and John Edwards might want to change the world. But Hillary Clinton wants to protect you against it.

That's the unmistakable message that Senator Clinton is pounding out in this final phase of the campaign to capture the Iowa caucuses. In a world brimming with danger and uncertainty, she argues as she blitzes the Hawkeye State, there's no time to waste daydreaming about pie-in-the-sky promises of reform.

Instead, the American people must choose a leader ready to immediately start fixing the problems that already exist and one who is immediately ready to face the inevitable and "unpredictable" crises looming right over the horizon. And that would be Clinton.' >>>

2. Just one of the things I like about Senator Clinton..
She deals in reality and the politics of 'now' with concrete solutions.

39. You mean playing the fear card?
I'm so sure that's raising the bar on the issues or some such nonesense like that but if I wanted another candidate to promise that the other guy would get me killed I would vote GOP.

3. One of the attributes you want is how someone will deal with
an "unknown" that could happen. We saw from this week HRC provided us with a view of how she would react to a "unknown" with the assination of Bhutto. Edwards did well too and Obama if grades were to be handed out made an F. The nation saw it and the msm saw it and folks obama did not do himself any good by trying to defend axelrod....

17. I'm not afraid of the boogeyman; are you?
When I look at a candidate, I do not worry over what they would go in an "ohmygodwhatthefuckarewegonnado!?" situation. Why? Because the odds of such a situation arising are pretty close to one in a million. I worry about what a candidate will do in the vast majority of their term, which surprisingly, is guaranteed to be pretty darn calm most of the time.

If Clinton thinks she can scare voters into her camp, she deserves every tomato she gets hit with.

Mission

Mission Statement: What Trinity Is About

FROM OBAMA'S CHURCH WEBSITE;

Trinity United Church of Christ has been called by God to be a congregation that is not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ and that does not apologize for its African roots! As a congregation of baptized believers, we are called to be agents of liberation not only for the oppressed, but for all of God’s family. We, as a church family, acknowledge, that we will, building on this affirmation of "who we are" and "whose we are," call men, women, boys and girls to the liberating love of Jesus Christ, inviting them to become a part of the church universal, responding to Jesus’ command that we go into all the world and make disciples!

We are called out to be "a chosen people" that pays no attention to socio-economic or educational backgrounds. We are made up of the highly educated and the uneducated. Our congregation is a combination of the haves and the have-nots; the economically disadvantaged, the under-class, the unemployed and the employable.

The fortunate who are among us combine forces with the less fortunate to become agents of change for God who is not pleased with America’s economic mal-distribution!

About Us

We are a congregation which is Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian... Our roots in the Black religious experience and tradition are deep, lasting and permanent. We are an African people, and remain "true to our native land," the mother continent, the cradle of civilization. God has superintended our pilgrimage through the days of slavery, the days of segregation, and the long night of racism. It is God who gives us the strength and courage to continuously address injustice as a people, and as a congregation. We constantly affirm our trust in God through cultural expression of a Black worship service and ministries which address the Black Community..

THIS IS BARACK OBAMA'S CHURCH...
THIS IS WHAT I AM AFRAID OF...AND THE RW MACHINE WILL FOR SURE WIL...YOU FIGURE IT OUT!

5. I remember when Dick Cheney and George Bush
Edited on Sun Dec-30-07 12:20 AM by TwoSparkles
....galavanted through Iowa, trying to scare us all into voting for them.

Since Hillary spends so much time kissing the behinds of the Bush clan, she obviously
has spent too much time listening to their campaign advice.

Give it up Hillary. We know the next President faces extraordinary challenges. We
understand that our country is at a crossroads.

That's why we don't need a warmongering, corporatist, dour-faced fearmonger such
as yourself--telling us what we need.

You take cracks at Obama and Edwards for their hope, creativity and inspiration--only
because no one has any hope when they listen to you, and you offer no creative
solutions to our country's problems and you inspire NO ONE.

I can't wait until this boor leaves our state.

40. Yes, that is what a Republican victory would mean
The goal is to elect a Democrat instead. I still remember back in 2004 debating with folks at DU that the election would hinge on the publics evaluation of who would make the best war time President, and being told that no, the election would hinge on economic issues, and who offered a more compelling positive vision of hope for the future. My point was that all Democrats score better than all Republicans on economics and hopeful vision, so the Republicans would make national security the center piece of their campaign where they believed they could get an edge on Democrats.

At the time I was making the case for Wes Clark for VP rather than John Edwards, but that is water under the bridge now. But I was right about the focus of the 2004 election. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Democrats or the Democratic Party making a conscious effort to assure voters that we are strong and decisive enough to competently deal with whatever their worst fears are. It is just as foolish to ignore fear, as it is foolish to ignore hope. We need to be compelling about our ability to protect American's wisely with sane policies, and we need to be compelling about our ability to lead America to a brighter future. it isn't one vs the other.

46. And wrong about how to deal with it
The defense establishment backing Clinton wants to continue to put a US military boot in the faces of the rest of the world permanently, which has exactly jackshit to do with the actual defense of this country. Here's a clue for you--we cannont fecking AFFORD to keep doing this and also solve our infrastructure problems, invent the post oil economy, and restore the New Deal.

16. Bill Clinton had an opportunity to change the world...

by simply having the Iran/Contra affair fully investigated and exposing the Bush regime for what it was. Instead, this got swept under the rug and he enabled Bush Junior to take power. The US does not need to suffer this level of compromise again.

There's one thing to say your opponent can't carry the day, that's par for the course in American politics since political parties were born, saying the other guy will get you killed and can't handle threats because they're weak is a whole new level of scumtitude.
