6. My prediction --

Edwards will win Iowa, due to mathematical peculiarities of the Iowa caucus system. He will lose the popular vote but win the most delegates, since the rural districts are represented disproportionately.

And yes, various candidate loyalists will spin it as a victory for Hillary or Obama. They will base their spin on the fact that Edwards did not win the popular vote.

7. Much of America is rural, and it is his ability to appeal to

rural voters that makes Edwards so electable. Bush won (if you believe he did win) based on his ability to win rural votes. Rural America is very depressed and very angry. Oddly, that is why the angry Republican rhetoric appeals to rural people. They are very polite and kind, but they are, underneath it angry. They have been left behind. Many of the outsourced jobs have been outsourced from rural communities where there were few job opportunities to begin with. Edwards responds to those concerns. I know about those concerns because I have family in rural America.
