There will be one huge advantage for us in 2008 as opposed to the campaign of 2004

if it's Edwards, Obama, or Hillary who gets the nod...or most any of our candidates for that matter.

I listened to Obama and Hillary this morning on the shows, twice Obama and once Hillary. I didn't get to see Edwards today. On MTP, in Obama's interview, I missed the first 6 or 7 minutes and I thought Russert basically took the morning off, meaning that he didn't have any tough questions for Obama like he did all the other candidates from both sides. Anyway, this is no knock towards Obama. That wasn't his fault, and maybe Russert gave him some toughies in the first part of the show I missed.

Then I saw Hillary and Obama on another show being interviewed by some lady from NH, first she did Hillary, then Obama. Wow, did they each impress. Hillary was crystal clear, smooth, and she pasted Bush by name at least twice, maybe 3 times. Then Obama came on and he was equally impressive, but in a different manner. Each one left me feeling confident in their ability to impress Americans in a general election. Edwards also has that ability and is easy to understand his message when he speaks.

Anyway, my point: After having listened for the umpteenth time today to our candidates, one thing is very clear. If it's Obama, Hillary, or Edwards who gets the nod, or almost any other Democrat we have, we will not have to worry about anyone in America understanding what they have to say when they speak. When these people speak, they are crystal clear.

This was not the case in 2004, and I think it cost us dearly. I remember all too often how frustrating it was trying to listen to John Kerry ramble on and on during the General Election. So often, when he got done speaking, you'd go, "WTF? What did he just say?" You'd sit there scratching your head wondering what in hell he was trying to tell everyone. Whoever we pick this time, we will not have that problem in 2008. That's one less thing we have to worry about, and I think it'll contribute greatly towards Democrats having an easier time in defeating the Repukes this time around.

Clarity of a message by our eventual candidate...how refreshing that will be in 2008.

If by "many" you mean just about everyone in the country, then I wholeheartedly agree. The only people I've ever heard saying that they could understand what Kerry was trying to say were his diehard supporters here on DU.

Thank goodness this is one less thing we'll have to worry about in 2008. At the very least, the voters will understand what our candidate is trying to tell them, whether it's Edwards, Hillary, or Obama. That is so important that enough can't be said about it. With Kerry, even an interpreter couldn't help you out.

Yup, that's why they're fighting like cats and dogs for the nomination. They know that this is THE golden opportunity. They know that this election cannot be won by a Republican. It can only be lost by a Democrat if there was some kind of major screw-up during the campaign, but that won't happen as long as we're careful. These three people have such well-organized campaigns that they're gonna be like a machine in the 2008 campaign.
