Campaigns Engage In Battle Through E-Mail
Reporters Receive Hundreds Of Statements, Attacks Daily
Sometimes, campaigns highlight good news or endorsements. Often, the notes are marked "Not For Attribution," meaning that the sender doesn't want his or name attached to it.
Kevin Landrigan, political reporter for The Telegraph newspaper, said that he gets about 200 such e-mails a day. He said the releases would seem toxic for voters, but it's how campaigns try to manipulate the news.
"All this stuff is for our consumption because it would not go over well with voters," Landrigan said.
