A bikers' group protesting illegal immigration staked out a busy intersection in Phoenix Saturday after rallying for weeks at a local furniture store.

The American Freedom Riders waved signs and touted tighter border security at Tatum Boulevard and Cactus Road Saturday morning.

Police kept on eye on the three dozen protestors, who sought a new venue after protesting at M.D. Pruitt's Home Furnishings in Phoenix with other anti-illegal immigration and, on the other side, pro-immigration rights activists.

The store on Thomas Road and 35th Street has been the site of the demonstrations since owner Roger Sensing hired officers to keep day laborers off his property more than a year ago.

Day-labor activists took a break from Pruitt's on Saturday, giving bikers the chance to rally in a more "affluent" area, said Freedom Riders' founder Danny Smith.

"We feel like we can force change faster here," he said.

Immigration advocate Salvador Reza launched the weekly protests at Pruitt's to boycott Sensing's store and demand support for day laborers.

The next protest could take place Jan. 1, when an Employer Sanctions Law takes effect cracking down on businesses that knowingly hire undocumented immigrants.

3. If the day laborers are not here legally, they need to leave.
I don't see why day laborers should be supported over citizens.

How are day laborers references and information checked? are they paid in cash or by business check? what taxes do day laborers pay? do day laborers receive workman's comp?

What are the day laborers wages? are they being paid minimum wage? comparable wage? unusually high wages?

Where are the citizens who could take those jobs?

There is more to this story. Supporting illegal aliens does not benefit anyone -- illegal or citizen -- in the long run, it just perpetuates a bad system that hurts both groups. I will not support law breakers over citizens.

4. They should fine the employers $10,000 for the first instance of
having illegal workers, and shut their doors for the second offense.

That would dry this shit up in about 2 seconds.

Not to give undocumented workers the legal right to work is shooting ourselves in our own foot. Not to give undocumented workers the path to citizenship or amnesty after having been here for 10, 20, 30 years in many cases is inhumane. "U.S. northern european cultural nationalism" as espoused by Lou Dobbs and such rely on the mantra of "WHAT ABOUT THE RULE OF LAW?" Well does the rule of law allow parents to be forceably separated from their U.S. born children thus making those children orphans? NO!!! Does the rule of law allow American born children and citizens to be expatriated because their parents were working in the U.S. without documents? NO!!! I've had to choose between White Nationalism and Human Decency on this issue and have decided not to support Lou Dobbs, Tom Tancrado and Michelle Malkin's (who as a self hating ethnic Filipino is an anchor baby) indecent and ethnic fear mongering point of view.
