Glad for the presence of Kucinic and Sharpton
During the CBS debate, Kerry and Edwards ran around the questions, never replying directly but fell back on their position, while Sharpton and Kucinic did.

Understandable. When you are the front runner, or almost, you cannot afford to be pinned into one sentence or one sound bite. Still, was nice to have Sharpton and Kucinic doing the "dirty" work.

1. Its KUCINICH ....
Just shows how marginalized Dennis Kucinich has been - people on the DU don't even know how to spell his name muchless who he is!

6. LOL!!
From what I read on DU, you should have forgotten to turn your HEARING AID on too!!

Was it really that bad? I read ONE thing DK said before he was interrupted by a mod, and ONE thing Sharpton said: that he wanted to speak too. THAT'S IT?

20. Thanks. Perhaps this is the reason why many
in the other threads about the debate were talking about "Dennis," or DK, the way many of us talk about Arnold or Ahnold ;-)

5. Last night
I stopped in a convenience store and the woman working there asked me about my Kucinich sticker on my coat. She is a democrat who has watched the debates and did not recall who he is. Then she said, "I'll bet he is that short guy that they never talk to. What does he stand for?" I was stunned that even people who watch the debates might not really know who he is. After I gave her a brief summation about his policies she told me that she knew now why they don't talk to him. Now I just have to go back and convince her to go to the caucus.

11. yesterday ...
I was at the local health food store and there was a Kucinich table set-up there *yeah!!!*.

It was sad because some idiot was out there reaming the supporters over the coals about Mad Cow Disease and DK being a vegan. I was like :wtf: difference does it make? Have you heard the guy's message btw?

Nope, just an angry idiot he was.

Move along ... nothing to learn at that table ....

Makes me :(

12. well
It is actually spelled "Kucinic" historically...in fact I ahve known a few Kucinic (pronounced the same, slavic languages usually pronounce a "c" at the end of a word as a "ch")...many immigrants went ahead and made the change when they arived in America

I just thought I would state this

13. Kucinic is correct and ...
Dennis Kucinich's father, a Croatian immigrant named "Kucinic" did not change his surname, Ellis Island did that for him when he immigrated. They added the "h" ... not Dennis' father.

This has happpend a lot historically.

Still the same, Dennis Kucinich's legal name is DENNIS J. KUCINICH, regardless of how it should be spelled.

We can thank the Immigration Serivce for this type of chaos.

4. Yes they are refreshing
It's a sad commentary that Kerry and Edwards are afraid to give a direct answer. It's an understandable defense mechanism since the GOP could turn a soundbite into an attack ad.

7. It's a sadder commentary that America would not elect Kucinich or Sharpton
They are the true heart and sould of the Dem party. I wish they could form a third party and take some Naderites with them. It might take one or two election cycles but I have had enough of the two party system. I hate to have to vote for somone I don't think is the best candidate.

GOD IS ON AMERICA'S SIDE - yeah right - my ass!!!!

GOD DOES NOT PICK "SIDES"!!!!!

8. The moderators would love to turn the Kerry-Edwards
competition into a vicious fight where they destroy each other.

So many times, Al Sharpton turns the argument back on Bush.

Today a questioner asked Kerry if he agreed that God is on America's side. Sharpton said that Bush thinks he and America are the same, and that they are not the same. John Edwards had a good answer too. Edwards said that in the middle of the Civil War, some people asked Lincoln to join them in praying that God was on their side. Lincoln said he could not pray that, but that he would pray that we were on God's side.

16. if not for kucinich and sharpton
the dem debate would have deteriorated to pointless rehtoric. thousands of voters would have fled the dem party and i would not have a chance to talk to people about important issues such as the pat act and nafta/wto at voter reg tables.

way to go al and dk!!!!!!!!! make 'em work for it

17. Thanks for this post.
I didn't see the debate, I have to work on Sundays or I wouldn't have missed it. (I don't have cable so I've missed just about all the other debates)

What I'm reading about Kucinich and Sharpton being given short shrift is, of course, not surprising. It's the standard M.O. for the mainstream media -- we KNOW who they serve, and it ain't US!

Anyway, here's a kick for this thread... :kick:

Go Dennis!

18. Two days to go and I still can't decide..
"Kerry: Make homeland security a central mission of the National Guard, create a new community defense organization to respond to attacks and enlist the private sector to bring technological innovations to the fight against terrorism. Voted for the Patriot Act."

http://www.ajc.com/opinion/content/opinion/0204a/29issues.html

How exactly would Kerry "enlist" the private sector in fighting terrorism? And isn't there a slight conflict of interest between profiteering and fighting terrorism?...or maybe not

Maybe I should flip a coin on Tuesday...heads will mean a vote for Sharpton, and tails will mean a vote for Kucinich.

But which kind of coin should I flip?

He never heard of posse comitatus

Kerry already won't reduce the OFFENSE BUDGET. No he's going to militarize Homeland Security? Where does this man get off?

May I offer my coin to you: a coin with TWO tails?}(

DK has well thought out comprehensive PLANS, together with how to implement them and PAY for them. Check out www.kucinich.us
