Here are some of my favorite quotes from the Kerry rally in Canton yesterday.
(snip)
Kerry hammered time and again on the job losses faced by workers in Stark County and Ohio, mentioning those at Timken, Hoover and Rubbermaid. He added Ford’s recent announcement about closing a Lorain plant.
“It sucks the guts out of a community,” he said. “I know we can do better.”
Responding to veterans who dotted the audiences, Kerry said military personnel “should not be held hostage by Middle East oil.” The country should not “go to war because it wants to, but because it has to.”
(snip)
He aimed part of his message at moderate Republicans, saying, “There is nothing conservative about piling debt on our children. There is nothing conservative about crossing that beautiful line our founders created that separates affairs of the church from the state. There’s nothing conservative about an attorney general who stomps on civil rights of Americans and disrespects the Constitution.”
