http://www.modbee.com/local/story/8676975p-9551184c.htmlAs gas prices continue to climb, people who donate their time -- and mileage -- to drive for local charities are feeling the pinch.
But most volunteers are still running up the odometer -- at least for now.
Some nonprofit groups organize rides for senior citizens and disabled people who need a lift to doctor's appointments or the grocery store. Volunteers often use their own vehicle to ferry the people about or to do shopping for them.
Some volunteers travel as far as Livermore or the Bay Area to take people to medical appointments. And with gas prices near $2.50 a gallon, being benevolent is harder on the budget.
The added cost of volunteering brought to you by the twit administration, but those critters in Modesto will still vote for him….
