Anthony Weiner's loss is apparently Kathy Castor's gain.
With the New York Democrat's expected resignation Thursday after a scandal, Castor is set to take his seat on the coveted House Energy and Commerce Committee, ranking member Henry Waxman told POLITICO.
Castor, a three-term lawmaker from Tampa, is the most senior former member of the Energy and Commerce panel. Along with six other Democrats, she got the boot in January when Republicans took control of the House.
With Weiner's resignation, Democrats will hold a meeting soon of the Steering and Policy Committee, with Castor first in line.
