This hearing is good news. The scope is broad, so details of past irregularities may not be the main focus. It is a step in the correct direction, and where it will lead is yet to be seen.

6. Is this just an introductory hearing?
I hope so...

What a joke! King and Bilbray serving on this panel -- I don't know whether or not to laugh or cry.

Does anyone know if it will be broadcasted on C-SPAN?

Conyers emphasized that the Justice Dept. has a responsibility.

In closing, he made clear that this hearing is related to one bill before them, but the issue is much broader.

12. The Repukes kept repeating the "need" for voter ID
Fortunately, the Dems weren't buying into it...asking for documentation of alleged illegal immigrant voters.

Obama said that voter ID is not part of his bill and will make sure there's no confusion.

But the Repukes wouldn't shut up...

It was actually a very good hearing.

SANCHEZ AND CARDIN WERE AWESOME!!!

Sanchez said (paraphrasing) that she didn't believe that over 800 illegal immigrants had voted in her district in the last election, nor would she believe it without documentation which the Republicans and the local election board both fail to present!!!
