SEC suspends Florida-Arkansas crew
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Southeastern Conference has suspended officials from last weekend's Arkansas-Florida game after the crew was involved in its second controversial call of the year.

Referee Marc Curles' crew called a personal foul on Arkansas defensive lineman Malcolm Sheppard in the fourth quarter as the Gators were rallying for a 23-20 victory. The league said there was no video evidence to support the call.

The same group of officials called the LSU-Georgia game earlier this month, which included a late unsportsmanlike conduct penalty the league said shouldn't have been called.

The SEC says the crew will be removed from its scheduled assignment this weekend and will not be assigned to officiate as a crew until Nov. 14.

1. I guess BOSSHOG put some pressure on the SEC to fix the mistakes.

4. As I posted earlier
Hogs Beat Gators 20-23!!

Like Eliot Ness I remain vigilant. Hopefully unlike Eliot Ness I will not die young and relatively impoverished.

2. Unfortunately...
It won't overturn the result of the game. Everyone knew the call was botched, which in effect gave Florida the game, but there will be no reversal.

3. While we're going to talk about that game
They also called an unsportsmanlike penalty on AJ Green late in the Georgia-LSU game which "shouldn't of been called" which gave LSU great field position on the kickoff where LSU ended up winning.

So it was pattern of bad calls by this crew that led to this.

You are a refreshing voice of reason in the Sports Forum. Most of us (me included) are partisan assholes, but you have a different take on the picture which I greatly appreciate. And yeah the penalty on Green was stupid regardless of one's partisanship.

Hip, Hip, Hooray for suspensions.

Now if only the NFL would address the dreadful cancer in Boston. What the league needs is a billicheatectomy. for the sake of the game.

10. Maybe this SEC tradition of horrible refereeing by SEC ref's is the reason
that the SEC has been able to cheat their way to the national championships.

17. Do you have a Masters in Knucklheadedness?
So an SEC team cheats against another SEC team to beat a non SEC team to win a title?? You are fucking brilliant. You are fucking MAD! Somewhere.

20. I'm not saying the charge has merit,
but it is logical. A conference needs unbeaten teams to win mythical national titles. So bad calls in close games in favor of the undefeated team in conference play do indeed boost a conference's chance of having a team win a mythical championship.

1979 - Arkansas V Indiana State. The Hogs kicked the Sycamores Ass up and down the court but the NCAA want a Bird-Magic final. Wala!!!

15. How many games...
....have been played that ended up with one team claiming referee bias? They are numerous. How many games have ended up with an entire country behind the offended team as to blatant referee bias? Count them on one hand probably. Gator fans, Gator sympathizers, and Arkansas detractors seem unable to grasp the difference. Sure, Arkansas blew some scoring opportunities, but noone can dispute that in this game, our defense carried the day, and without the wrong calls against Arkansas, admitted by the head ref, and confirmed by the SEC's suspension of the entire crew, that defense had an excellent chance of stopping Florida not only on the touchdown drive, but also the last drive which resulted in Florida's win*. Like many have stated, the Gators may have pulled it out despite the calls, but there can be no genuine defense nor pride in the outcome of this game for the Gator team or their fans. Thanks.

16. Good Decision By The SEC
Hopefully this officiating crew will spend their time off reading the rule book.

19. I think they know the rules...
they'd do better to spend the time getting their eyes fixed or figuring out how dislodge their heads from their asses.
