black female student raped, 46 white male students submit dna
this is an outrage!

March 25,2006

The woman who says she was raped last week by three members of the Duke University lacrosse team thought she would be dancing for five men at a bachelor party, she said Friday. But when she arrived that night, she found herself surrounded by more than 40.

Just moments after she and another exotic dancer started to perform, she said, men in the house started barking racial slurs. The two women, both black, stopped dancing.

"We started to cry," she said. "We were so scared."

Forty-six members of the men's lacrosse team submitted DNA samples Thursday in the unusual case. As of late Friday, there had been no arrests. Duke officials briefed university staff Friday on the allegations, and authorities vowed to crack the team's wall of solidarity.

"We're asking someone from the lacrosse team to step forward," Durham police Cpl. David Addison said. "We will be relentless in finding out who committed this crime."

He emphasized the seriousness of the accusations -- first-degree rape, kidnapping, assault by strangulation and robbery.

1. No one needs to "step forward".
If the DNA matches any of the men, they will be arrested. :eyes:

4. in this instance the group tends to stay cohesive
Men often have a false sense of loyalty to their so-called "brothers." Nevermind that these guys committed a sick act. For somebody to step up would risk them being alienated from their group. No more parties. No more picking up women together. They'd get treated like shit on trips, beat on at practice. It's a credo men have, "Bros before Hos." In this instance, the false security of the group that holds up their delusions of manhood. Guys get tight-lipped pretty quick over this stuff. So, the physical evidence will have to get the ball rolling, from there then you'll see the rats scurrying for cover. Everybody will want to make the best deal for themselves, in that case.

3. that's horrible
shameful.

I hope they get those effers and they get what they deserve. No call for doing something like that. There is nothing wrong with consensual sex, or I suppose even blowing off some steam with some exotic dancers, or something like that from time to time. I know a stripper and she seems ok with doing it to make a little extra cash, while she's young. I understand that it can be degrading and so on, but the women get compensated and they choose to get into that. At least strip clubs are regulated anyway. However, jumping these women and raping them is just sick. It sounds bad, rape, kidnapping, assault by strangulation, and robbery? No excuse for any of that. You can't in anyway justify those actions. Some people try that "boys will be boys and it just got out of hand" bullsh*t, or whatever. I never have bought that. Women don't "ask" for it, nor because they are strippers does it mean that they don't have any dignity. Many young women who are dancers only do it for some extra cash so they can get through school, they are smart, talented and good people. They in no way deserve to be treated with disrespect or brutalized like that.

8. Caning only leaves an impression for about a week.
Something more lingering is in order.

9. getting raped themselves, being subjected to the same sort of pain
and degradation and humiliation they inflicted on the women might be a good start.

11. Revolting

I heard this story on Fox News but it made no mention of the racist dimension. I wonder why?

I also wonder if they would do the same and not mention the colour aspect if the men had been black and the women had been white?
