Horseradish.

Besides an addition to cocktail sauce and perhaps on roast beef, what's it good for?
I love horseradish cheddar cheese and would love to incorporate it in other meals, if
I can get away with it.

A bit of horseradish in coleslaw is amazing. I sometimes mix it with the mayo for potato salad but remember a little goes a long way.

It's also good mixed with mayo just on sandwiches. Try with roast beef or ham and cheese, or even with just a sliced tomato.

3. With Kielbasa

I especially like it with fresh kielbasa but it tastes great with the smoked kind, too.

Just add some to yer mashed 'taters. Even instant ones benefit from a touch or three.

6. And not just smashed ones....

If you have fresh horseradish root, grate a little into grated potatoes for homemade hashbrowns. Gives 'em a nice zing.

Also a necessary component of homemade cocktail/seafood sauce.

5. it's great in bloody marys too

my recipe was voted "best Bloody Mary" three years in a row at a local jazz festival when I used to bartend :evilgrin:

And yes you must be careful as it WILL dissolve your eyeballs!

10. Mix a little with whipped cream or sour cream

It's great as a garnish for soups especially cheddar cheese or potato; or for that matter, potato cheese.

a little horseradish in mayo for a zingy topping. If there happens to be any leftover salmon, fork it all together with the mayo and horseradish for a lovely sandwich spread. mmmmmm

When it's like a silver(coho), pink, or white king salmon, horseradish works great. The flesh on these are mild. And horseradish is good on whitefish like halibut, cod, snapper.

I didn't like using horseradish it to sockeye or red king salmon. I want that fishy oily flavor to come through, instead use something a little lighter like fresh squeezed citrus juice (either lemon, lime, orange, or grapefruit)
