3. Will this air on C-SPAN3? I don't get that channel. I'm hoping perhaps
that they'll repeat it in the evening on C-SPAN1 or C-SPAN2? Or . . . wondering if the dummy channels (CNN, MSNBC, or Fox) will consider showing it live.

Hope that meeting turns out alright for you, Tay.

4. It will be on the committee webcast
Edited on Tue Jan-09-07 02:52 PM by TayTay
And, I am sure, on CSpan 3 if possible. If not, it will almost surely run in it's entirety at night on one of the other C-Spans. Check the C-Span site tomorrow morning.

BTW, each Senate Committee room, except for Small Biz (grrr) is equipped for making live webcasts. In addition to that there are other ways of getting the feed:

http://foreign.senate.gov/ check here on the day of the hearing, it will be on this page.

http://www.capitolhearings.org/ This is an audio only broadcast of the hearing, by room. Go here and look up the Foreign Relations hearings.

13. A lot of people must be watching/listening online
Because I can't get it to stream properly. The sound is very jittery, and the picture is more like a series of still pictures. Even when I just tried the audio only, it was difficult to listen to. I'll depend on the kindness of strangers with cube-rat updates.

14. I am streaming
without problem, looks and sound OK, from the CSPAN site, and I do not have a very fast connection.

15. Weird, I'm here at work on a corporate network, and the sound/video quality is bad
Edited on Wed Jan-10-07 10:21 AM by rox63
I must have bad streaming karma or something. I really shouldn't be listening anyway, since I work on the phone. And I'm certain our customers don't want to listen to it while we try to fix their computer problems.

6. Sorry about the meeting, Tay
I heard yesterday that your company was cutting hundreds of jobs. I hope you don't get axed. Are they sending the jobs overseas? <fingers crossed for Tay>

7. Oh, I will survive
Change is, after all, the one constant in life.

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Whatever happens is a 'done to me' not a 'done by me.' I will survive, knowing the difference and knowing that all things move on.

Ahm, there are worse things than loosing that state of constant fear that 'the bad thing' will happen. Sometimes, letting 'the bad thing' happen is the best way to move on and be rid of that nagging fear.

8. Well, I hope that the meeting has a good outcome for you.
Whichever outcome that you would consider good. ;-)

They'd be nuts to lay you off, of course. That would be their loss.

Managing off-shored jobs brings its own challenges. Many companies come to regret the decision, and pull at least some of the jobs back. However then it is often too late to bring back the experienced employees that they let go.

12. Trying to watch (streaming)
Heard Biden's introductory comments, many new people, some nice, some that will be a painful replacement for the now happily unemplyed Allen.

16. Typical of the MSM -- no equal time for the Democrats
Just checked cable -- all they're talking about is the president's speech tonight while ignoring the hearings going on right now. This is BLATANT bias in the president's favor.

I hope they repeat these hearings at night on C-SPAN so that I can tape it. I'm not in a position to sit in front of my computer and watch the streaming video live. But thank God for the internet; otherwise it would be like a tree falling in the forest and no one hearing it.

19. Kerry question:
Gen. Abizaid said no more troops.

Will troops help or make things worse?

Where are we in 6 months with more troops?
