Poll question: Hanging my head - begging for help - stairways poll
Gathering and deleting - that's what I've been doing to many photos of stairways.
Since they represent emotional memories I just can't chose.

You can help me, I know you can. Just PLEASE give a nod to what appeals to you the most,
and you don't even have to say anything.
Don't shake your head in disbelief :) just vote.

Thank you.
I'll probably abide by your decision.

1. really loving
two, three and four. I'm going to have to think about it and vote later--probably two or four just because the third one seems less stairwayish. These are all awesome.

Okay, I am going with four because it is horizontal, and beautiful, and colorful, and outside, and cobblestone!

2. Moral of story:
Be careful what theme you wish for!

Went with the Heidelberg steps because the composition is smashing. The processing words for me, but I'd have admired it just as much if the colors had been less Maxfield Parrish.

Have to say, though, that the YWCA shot is also very, very strong. The composition in the Key West one is also a great success, but the shot seems soft to me, and there's some chromatic aberration happening on the steps.

3. there is something kinda cool

Lots of wonderful photos in this bunch, Mira.

4. Thanks for the comments, they are helpful.

I also like the Mossy Path in late light photo. I must have gone wild with the Picasa sliders. I wanted for the moss to show up, and overdid it.

I'll go back and see what I can do to make it look normal again. Maxfield Parrish actually never appealed to me that much, and lavender trees won't go over too well in the GD community (though the trees in the back had a strange color from the start)

Thanks, it's very good to get your votes and feedback.
I lose all ability to see, after a while of hunting for entries.

6. YMCA
Love the colors, the silhouette, the angles. Just a dynamite composition all the way around.

Mossy Path has a really interesting perspective; almost surreal, dreamlike. It might do very well in the GD voting.

9. Thanks for your supportive comments, they mean a lot, and one more photo
I am finding it fascinating to see what appeals and what doesn't.

Found another one this morning that I completely forgot and it ought to be a contender

As all of you know I love my "stairways"

I went down right behind that man.
It's in Acoma, New Mexico

11. I definitely change my vote to this one
This is just awesome. I have to add that I prefer action shots in almost all cases to static photos, and that may put me in the minority. This photo has me THERE, and I am feeling the emotion. That means just a ton to me. For me it is more about the emotion than either the technical aspects or even the beauty. The emotion is THRILL

I love this photo! Please enter it.

12. WOW - what a plea. When I saw this morning
that I had left it out of the poll I almost decided just to use it as a surprise for everyone.
Then I reduced the mossy path back to it's fresh out of the camera image, and loved it all over again.

I know only one thing for sure this moment.
I will NOT look for more contenders, I have them, you know!

15. This one is my favorite.
Was having a hard time voting for just one the others but this one is by far the best. Different, love the colors of the rocks, has the people to give it even more visual interest and the handholds.

18. Yeah! So glad you chimed in, your presence and opinion
are always important to me.
I made the decision without having read your comment. It would have tipped the scale if my mind had not been made up already.
Thanks CC.

19. Recovering from a miserable
cold. Told the hubby that this week he can bring heat back from Miami instead of cold germs.

I haven't gone to look which one you chose but still think this one is perfect. I had a stair photo I wanted to use but have to find it. Forgot it was on film not digital. Will keep looking for it.

10. Torn between...
I'm torn between Mossy Path and YWCA. You really can't go wrong with either.

13. Egypt? Heidelberg? Key West?
Do you need an assistant to carry your luggage? Wash your clothes? Carry you through rushing streams? I'll work for peanuts. Really, I'll work for peanuts. I like the lightly salted dry roasted kind.

I went for the Stairway to Hell. With a little tweaking it could go from good to great. I can understand the appeal of YMCA, but I think it'd work better as a Black and White. But it's not my photograph. Just throwing out a crumb to consider eating.

16. Welcome to DU and welcome to our forum
How nice you wrote something about my stuff, and frankly, after I take the photos the emotion of that moment colors everything for me. And after that I can make the private case for each and every one of them,
and the many stairway photos I've taken over time, because I've always wanted a contest with that subject, knowing of the wealth in my archives and my love for the visuals.

So- in a way - I consider this contest my 15 seconds of fame - everybody knows it, that's why they are so kind to me.

Now, about my travels. I've been lucky. I grew up in Europe, and traveled the US and other places on business and on personal travel, also, I've lived a lot of years.
I like to travel with natives if at all possible, because they can answer my numerous questions.

And I like to take advantage of each and every opportunity to go somewhere even if it's less than perfect, and even if it's in company I don't much enjoy,
I make my own environment, and I create my own fun, can do it on a dime or in style, whichever is available.
Good thing I've been self-employed. Don't have to ask for time off, just have to work night and day before and after a trip.

So, heck yeah, do what I do, have or create a fund for nothing but the opportunity that presents itself, which comes along when you keep your eyes and ears open.
And keep in touch.
My Wanderlust may strike at any moment.

14. Acoma
I don't usually participate in the "What should I enter?" polls. No point in aiding the "enemy"; and besides, are you sure I really have your best interests at heart?

That being said, extensive review of my archives has proven fruitless. I got nuthin' for this contest. My prospects of finding a subject in time are slim, although I'll keep my eyes open...

Soooo... Acoma is really good, and I bet it will stand out from the rest of the field. I also particularly liked the composition of the mossy path shot, and would love to see the "out of the camera" version! Good luck!

17. Thank you Bluedigger, I'm about to post it for all who care to see it.
I can't imagine you don't have steps in your files.
Makes me realize that I must be truly loco on that subject, considering the wealth I have.

Would you accept a present of one?
I think I know what you like!
