I've been taking it easy for the last few weeks, staying out of the news loop as much as possible. I'm hoping the new Democratic Congress is going to take the bull by the horns the way I've expected them to, but I guess we'll see.
It sounds like they're being smart, trying to separate money for the current troops from money for an escalation of the war.
I heard today that they're under some fire for not quite making their 100 hour goal--by the sounds of it, football got in the way? Or so I heard on Ed Schultz today.
Fucking sports. The opiate of the American Masses. As far as I'm concerned, there is NO excuse for letting a football game interfere with the operation of Congress. Of course, I'm not any kind of sports fanatic. Maybe it's a lack of testosterone. Or maybe it's simply because I see it for the distraction it is.
Fucking sports. I really don't get it. What's so great about watching people chase the pigskin around, anyway? Or chase a orange ball back and forth and back and forth and back and forth across a basketball court?
Baseball I get--but, then again, I played little league for four years. But I'm still not any kind of fanatic. I can't help but wonder why some people get so wrapped up in it that they'll make fools of themselves in public for the sake of their obsession. Or arrange their whole lives around who plays whom and when.
Anyone have any insight into this that would make any sense to me?
Of course, my wife really appreciates the fact that I'm not a football fan. I don't have any reason to want to plant myself in front of a television on any weekend day, or Monday night, just to see who wins a freakin' game.
Be damned if I get it.
On a positive personal note...I finally finished painting my bathroom. It looks SO cool. Now I'm going to be pulling up and laying new linoleum. Next month I'll be pulling up the living room carpet and laying new hardwood (or Pergo or something similar). It's keeping me busy, along with my part-time job at Target (which just became permanent). I guess I'm doing exceptionally well there, considering that I was specifically invited to stay on past the seasonal position for which I was originally hired.
And I'm writing. Currently I'm working on the sequel to my Sword and Shadow. And a revision of my Infinity: RPG.
And even better!
My newest novel, Sword and Shadow, is available from Samhain Publishing RIGHT NOW. You can go get it in electronic format, or wait six months before it comes out in paper and ends up in your local Waldenbooks or Borders.
Don't let the classification of "romance" fool you. Romance is the hottest genre right now--particularly in e-book. Straight sci-fi and fantasy fans are quite a bit behind the romance junkies these days.
