Citizens' arrest?
I'm not at all confident that Congress can stop this dictator. Should people be talking about a citizens' arrest?
I wonder if a large number of the nation's top religious leaders would undertake something like this.

Discuss.

2. Citizen's Arrest dates back to British common law
it is not illegal, but in the case of arresting a president it is highly improbable.

3. Yes, it's legal, but nearly impossible

since he's surrounded by armed Secret Service agents. I realize that it can't physically be done.

However, could it be a symbolic gesture to publicize deep concern over this declaration of dictatorship?

7. a citizens arrest
has to be done with police presence. if they refuse to arrest someone, you can sometimes claim citizens arrest. at which point the police will take the person into custody. you cannot simply walk up to someone and say citizens arrest, take them into custody yourself. that is illegal.

8. Not exactly ..
"Kentucky law holds that a person witnessing a felony must take affirmative steps to prevent it, if possible. (See Gill v. Commonwealth, 235 KY 351 (1930.)"

In most cases, nothing is mentioned of the presence of an enforcement official. A suspected "felony" is a requirement (can't use it for littering)
The "arrested" person must be delivered to the police immediately (if not sooner).
A person must become familiar with his/her own state's particular interpretations and case laws on citizen's arrest.

jmo (mostly)

...O...

9. 50 states
have almost 50 different laws pertaining to citizens arrest. you should review them before making incorrect statements.

14. You can make your citizens arrest
and restrain the individual. Then you have to surrender them to the police immediately. Like some others have said, it varies from state to state, but it is a viable option. Except in the case of the pResident, then you'd have to take on the gestapo that surrounds him.

10. Only Congress has the power to arrest and remove a bad President
The Secret Service would prevent an attempt at a citizen's arrest.

However, the states can force impeachment, if I'm reading things correctly.

It would also help if he were indicted by the World Court. At least he'd have to stop embarrassing us around the world.
