Obscenity Prosecution Task Force
Created in 2005, the Task Force is dedicated exclusively to the protection of America's children and families through the enforcement of our Nation's obscenity laws.

Holy shit, wtf is this?

:wtf:

I went to the DOJ because I have been reading that it is up to the DOJ to see that the laws passed in Congress are followed.

I did not realize that obscenity was more important than all these illegal Signing Statements, who knew?

Bush's use of signing statements thus potentially brings him into conflict with his own Justice Department. The Justice Department is responsible for defending the constitutionality of laws enacted by Congress. What is going to happen when the question at issue is the constitutionality of a provision the President has declared unconstitutional in a signing statement?

1. To state the obvious, the DOJ works for the President.
We can say 'they work for the People' all we want but, they take orders from the President, you know, the one who swears to uphold the Constitution. If the President does not uphold the Constitution, no one should look to the DOJ, which works at his pleasure, and whose officials are fired at his pleasure, to hold the President's feet to the fire.

That's what Congress is for...

U.S. Attorney's Porn Fight Gets Bad Reviews
Obscenity Prosecution Task Force will focus on Internet crimes and peer-to-peer distribution of pornography

Julie Kay
Daily Business Review
August 30, 2005

When FBI supervisors in Miami met with new interim U.S. Attorney Alex Acosta last month, they wondered what the top enforcement priority for Acosta and Attorney General Alberto Gonzales would be.

Would it be terrorism? Organized crime? Narcotics trafficking? Immigration? Or maybe public corruption?

The agents were stunned to learn that a top prosecutorial priority of Acosta and the Department of Justice was none of the above. Instead, Acosta told them, it's obscenity. Not pornography involving children, but pornographic material featuring consenting adults.

Acosta's stated goal of prosecuting distributors of adult porn has angered federal and local law enforcement officials, as well as prosecutors in his own office. They say there are far more important issues in a high-crime area like South Florida, which is an international hub at risk for terrorism, money laundering and other dangerous activities.
