Sharpton considers running for president
NEW YORK - Civil rights activist
Al Sharpton said Monday he is seriously considering a run for president. "I don't hear any reason not to," Sharpton, 52, said in an interview during an urban affairs conference sponsored by another civil rights leader, the Rev.
Jesse Jackson

Despite widespread interest in the likely candidacy of another influential black Democrat, Illinois Sen. Barack Obama (news, bio, voting record), Sharpton said he's heard little substantive discussion of issues that might influence his decision about running.

"Right now we're hearing a lot of media razzle dazzle," Sharpton said. "I'm not hearing a lot of meat, or a lot of content. I think when the meat hits the fire, we'll find out if it's just fat or if there's some real meat there."

Sharpton said the candidate who impressed him most so far was former North Carolina Sen.
John Edwards, who has made poverty the central issue of his campaign.

1. "I don't hear any reason not to"
I do. Sharpton has zero chance of winning, again, and is nothing but a publicity hound who doesn't really seem to have any original ideas.

2. In 2004 he was one of the very few that spoke the truth about Iraq.
So if someone has zero chance of winning they should just sit down and shut up?

Sharpton keeps the "debate" focused.

Look up Roger Stone and Sharpton.

Here's a start.

10. Agreed.
We need candidates like Sharpton and Kucinich to bring up issues that need to be addressed.

3. He impressed me in 2004
I hope he does decide to run. He said the things that really needed to be said and he didn't get all mealy-mouthed saying them either. Go, Al.

5. Two Words - Tawana Brawley.
That's all it takes to beat Sharpton.

A proven liar. He lost his civil case, too, brought by Steven Pagones, the Westchester county official he declared Tawana's "rapist".

No amount of good deeds make up for what he did to New York and race relations, and most of all, the innocent people he accused.

McKinnon told the Daily News that he quit his job as Sharpton's aide five weeks ago because he could not "live with all those lies" the Brawley advisers were concocting. Interviewed later on New York's WCBS-TV, he repeated his charges while hooked up to a lie detector. The polygraph, said the operator, indicated that McKinnon was telling the truth. According to McKinnon, the Brawley advisers did not really believe her story of abduction and rape. He said that when he personally offered to investigate, they showed no interest. "I don't care about no facts," he quoted Maddox as saying. "I'm not going to pursue it legally; I'm going to pursue it politically." Sharpton, McKinnon asserted, was all for exploiting the case to get a political protest movement going and boasted that the controversy would make them the "biggest niggers in New York." A new wrinkle developed at week's end, when McKinnon's cousin, Alvin McKinnon, revealed that Perry had a history of mental problems. Alvin, a Sharpton supporter, said his cousin "had popped the cork again." Other Sharpton aides, however, were said to be on the verge of corroborating Perry McKinnon's charges.

I enjoyed your speeches in 2004, especially your speech at the Convention where you didn't give in to Kerry's wussiness and had the guts to take on Bush directly. That speech was great.

Unfotunately, you're still the architect of the Tawana Brawley smear campagin. You're a liar and a fraud and a race-baiter.

NEXT!!

12. HELL YES!
Like him or not, the Rev. is someone who always speaks his mind and tells it like it is.
