ABC hires Glenn Beck as contributor to "Good Morning America"
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/tv/1401AP_TV_ABC_Beck.html

Yes, ABC, the folks that brought us RW fiction, "The Path to 9-11".

NEW YORK -- CNN Headline News and radio talk-show host Glenn Beck will join ABC's "Good Morning America" as a regular commentator, ABC News said Tuesday.

<snip>

"Glenn is a leading cultural commentator with a distinct voice," said Jim Murphy, senior executive producer of "Good Morning America." "At times, he is the perfect guest for many of the talk topics we cover on morning news programs."

CNN Headline News said Tuesday that Beck will make several single-topic specials this year, after a previous one - on Islamic extremism - set a ratings record for the network.

Beck will make specials on people who believe in the apocalypse, Islam in America and the "myths of global warming," the network said. The first will air in late February or early March.

So I wonder if he even knows that CO2 is carbon dioxide. Nice to have people who have had 5 minutes of science pronounce they know everything! This is the same idiot that screamed that Steve Irwin got himself killed by swimming with the "deadly" stingrays which everybody knows kills thousands (6 deaths since 1969 check your facts you big blowhard..)

I figured it was fairly rare, but you are talking roughly the incidence of getting struck by a metoer (well, actually, that stat is lower).

Something like that 6-10 maybe a few more. Another one not too long ago actually. But it is very small which made what happened to him soo sad and tragic, really.

53. Well, you missed the one...
where Beck asked a new Democratic United States Congressman to convince the audience that since he was Muslim that he wasn't an enemy of America.

Classic piece of hate-mongering and possession of absolute ignorance of his guest.

Beck has no business calling himself a journalist or a serious political commentator. He is thin on facts and big on bombacity, but he serves to add another hour to right-wing commentary to an already saturated market.

This paradigm of all-conservative hosts and conservative-leaning reporters on TV news is choking the life out of the public discourse. Of course, many would argue that is by design.

17. Why do all these radio deejays think they're qualified to tell the
rest of us what to think? I remember the first time I heard talk radio,(many years ago) the host was pretty much a facilitator and the callers and guests were the show. The host kept things moving but didn't give his or her opinion.
Glenn Beck was a radio DJ until he decided to parrot Rush's "success". I think that's where most of these boneheads came from. They found out what a big market there was for hate.

24. ABC: Assinine Bushbot Christofascists
At this point in the history of U.S. propaganda, I say let the frauds waste millions on their lies to keep the dumbed-downed Disney cretins hatefully happy.

They will continue to package these bigoted frauds in every different suit/hairdoo they can until it's not profitable anymore to present a constant stream of canards, it's called corporate propaganda. One of the best ways to expose them is to give them airtime, like when Lameballs went of on his racist tirade about the African-American football quarterback.

Every educated American and world citizen is aware of these pigs now, a number of people so huge that the dwindling impact of propaganda isn't worth the money wasted on it anymore. So, I'm of the opinion that it's a good thing they are wasting their millions on fools.

51. Matt Taibbi nails these guys
...not much difference between Friedman and Beck at the end of the day...

THE LOW POST: Hussein in the Membrane

by Matt Taibbi

"... Remember that this war was cooked up by American bureaucrats, people who know an awful lot more about bowling than they do about Islam. True, there were a few genuine lunatics involved in dreaming up the invasion -- that crazy fraternity of neocon academics, wanna-be revolutionaries who spent the whole 1990s bitter about Clinton and wired on coffee and Goldwater biographies, waiting for their Big Chance. Those people came up with the specific details of the Iraq plan (when, where, ostensibly why) and it's doubtful that anyone else but a lunatic could have dreamed up those particulars, since their logic generally eludes the sane and the normal.

But the engine behind this entire escapade was really the great mass of ordinary Beltway apparatchiks and media creatures who cheerfully assented once the idea squirted out of Bush's mouth. You're talking about a bunch of half-bright golfers from the Virginian suburbs, people raised on Archie comics and fuzzy patriotic platitudes and old saws gleaned from William Holden war movies and their postwar corporate-executive dads. They went for the war because people they trusted told them it was a good idea, and some of them even ended up running parts of the operation, either in Iraq or in positions of responsibility here at home.

Tom Friedman is the oracle of this crowd, the tormented fat kid with a wedgie who got smart in his high school years and figured out that all he had to do to be successful was shamelessly and relentlessly flatter his Greatest-Generation parents, stroke their outdated prejudices, sell them on the idea that the entire aim of the modernization process is the spreading of their amazing legacy through the use of space-age technology.

...

This is just a modern take on the same old bullshit rap that traveling salesmen all over America have been laying on wide-eyed yokels at 99 Steak Houses and Howard Johnsons hotel bars for decades: So I was having lunch with Jack Welch at the Four Seasons last week when I heard about this amazing opportunity.... And these middle-manager types who live in Midwestern cubicles or in the bowels of some federal bureaucracy in Maryland eat it up: They buy every one of Friedman's books, treat his every word like gospel and before you know it they're all talking about Israeli politics and "the situation" in Yemen or Turkey or wherever like they're experts.

Keep track of everything Beck says and nail him when he spreads his lies and prejudice.

And while you're at it, do the same thing to Rosie O'Donnell. She isn't as important a target, but she's also pretentious and a blowhard. (I don't care about her politics; she's embarassing even if she is a lesbian "activist" and is fighting Trump.)
