How spicy foods can kill cancers

Scientists have discovered the key to the ability of spicy foods to kill cancer cells.

They found capsaicin, an ingredient of jalapeno peppers, triggers cancer cell death by attacking mitochondria - the cells' energy-generating boiler rooms.

The research raises the possibility that other cancer drugs could be developed to target mitochondria.

7. Well, the alcohol in the wine dissipates the capsaicin. (Milk does too.)

So, before feasting on capsaicin-laden peppers, drink some milk and eat some buttered bread. Then, 'chase' the jalapenos with beer or wine.

Since capsaicin is also the active ingredient in many pepper sprays used for riot control, protestors are well-advised to come equipped with quarts of milk. (Some of us older types have known this for a while.)

4. Good news for me
I'm not happy unless the food is spicy enough to make me sweat and make my nose run. I drink Tabasco sauce like water. Jalapenos? Not hot. Habeneros are more my style.

6. Me, too. I love hot, spicy foods.
I guess we'll live a lot longer than those who eat bland, tasteless food.
