3. "Right end"
What the hell is that? How the hell can we define that at this point? Would we recognize the "right end" if we saw it? "Right end" for who?

4. Traveler,
Jesusmotherfuckinchristonacrutch!

May I use that? Because there is so much bullshit rhetoric floating around, that's the ONLY sentiment I can express, and you've already done it perfectly. And I couldn't quite put it together.

11. Being a presidential hopeful and all
shouldn't she at least be offering solutions to an end? Like, maybe to make us think she wants what we want?

Or is the idiotic question supposed to make us "feel" represented?

15. The idea we can tie up the war in a neat little bow

has been endemic to the GOP, but seems to have spread across the aisle.

6. There is no "right end"... we've screwed the pooch on this one...
We broke it and we can't fix it... We need to get our boys home and live with the the fact that most of the worlds nations view us as incompetent fuck-ups.

End of story.

8. does she mean stick it up her right end? hmm... well, at least these words make sense...
I thought they were called "right" and "left" cheeks... I always knew Hilly was right-wing but right end? hmm... anyhow, enough of my jabbering... here's some real wisdom!

on violence:
"What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans and the homeless, whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or the holy name of liberty or democracy? It is better to be violent, if there is violence in our hearts, than to put on the cloak of nonviolence to cover impotence. I object to violence because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary; the evil it does is permanent. Victory attained by violence is tantamount to a defeat, for it is momentary. An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. I cannot teach you violence, as I do not myself believe in it. I can only teach you not to bow your heads before any one -- even at the cost of your life."

on patience:
"An ounce of practice is worth more than tons of preaching. First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win. One needs to be slow to form convictions, but once formed they must be defended against the heaviest odds. Unwearied ceaseless effort is the price that must be paid for turning faith into a rich infallible experience. Indolence is a delightful but distressing state; we must be doing something to be happy. Whatever you do will be insignificant, but it is very important that you do it. When I despair, I remember that all through history the ways of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it--always."

on courage:
"A small body of determined spirits fired by an unquenchable faith in their mission can alter the course of history. Adaptability is not imitation. An error does not become truth by reason of multiplied propagation, nor does truth become error because nobody sees it. Breach of promise is a base surrender of truth. It means power of resistance and assimilation. A 'No' uttered from the deepest conviction is better than a 'Yes' merely uttered to please, or worse, to avoid trouble. A coward is incapable of exhibiting love; it is the prerogative of the brave."

on strength:
"They cannot take away our self-respect if we do not give it to them. It is unwise to be too sure of one's own wisdom. It is healthy to be reminded that the strongest might weaken and the wisest might err. Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will. The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong. Whenever you are confronted with an opponent, conquer him with love. Nonviolence is a weapon of the strong. Non-violence is the greatest force at the disposal of mankind. It is mightier than the mightiest weapon of destruction devised by the ingenuity of man. Non-violence is the article of faith. "

9. Hillary = Nixon in 1968 -- "To bring an honorable end to the war in Vietnam"
Scratch that, she's well to the right of Nixon in 1968.

Obama and Dean are somewhere near Nixon in 68.

Anyone to the left of Obama and Dean is to the left of Nixon on this and several other issues.

Basically when it comes to electable candidates, we get to choose between Dems who are DLC and those who are "well, I'm not DLC. I am a millionaire, though... you won't catch me saying anything bad about the American economy, or the American Empire."

I guess we should be thankful that Obama and Dean are to the left of
everyone else "electable" in the USA today. Perhaps Nixon sent a signal in 1972 -- "anyone to the left of me is unelectable in the US, unless I'm caught with a dead girl or a live dog."

12. No real "right" ends.
Edited on Sun Jan-21-07 05:07 PM by mmonk
You either end it and maybe send funds to try and restore infrastructure or continue this carnage in hopes maybe you can be brutal enough to stop any more opposition (doubtful). Continuing it probably means continuing the whole policy of permanent bases and continued war with countries in the region.

16.  I don't know what a right end would be .
After all that has been done now ?

There are hundreds of thousands murdered and displaced , so many buildings destroyed . They have been through sanctions for 12 years before this .

Sure the US can pull out while being killed in the process at a higher rate .

Some say we can apologize as if this will help now .

I don't see how this can be done with any result other than tryng to rebuild after they end their own civil war that we got them into .

There is no way to stop the ,military of the US from still supplying guns and bombs so they can continue to kill eachother while these american corps keep profiting off the horror .

18. Translation: "How do I cover my ass while supporting a lost war?"
Politics as usual for an ambitious politician who has discarded what few ethics she may once have had.

You are the grand prize winner!

Like I said up thread, I had expected a little more of her (a few years back).

Now I find her attitude insulting. She's lost my support.
