I wouldn't usually listen to Rove for 2 seconds, but I was flipping the other day & did catch a minute of what must have been this same speech(?)
He was asked the question "What was your worst day & best day in the White House?" After "joking" that the worst day is yet to come (his mouth to Fitz's ears) he said that the worst day was 9/11. Then he went on to talk about it in what I thought were really egocentric terms. I don't recall hearing any compassion for the victims. It was all about how it affected him. He said that normally when you get off of Air Force One, you are greeted by snappy salutes from soldiers in dress uniforms, but when they landed in Louisiana, they were met by soldiers in combat gear with loaded weapons.
He ALSO said that when he learned of the first plane hitting the World Trade Center, Bush was literally shaking hands at Booker Elementary as they had just arrived. I believe (I could be wrong) that he said that he told Bush about it.
Someone should find a transcript if possible and check that bit, given the various accounts of how Bush was told about the first plane.
