Whoa! The Hill comments urge violence against unions

Visitation of slain union leader.
We know the Internet can be a vile place where anonymous trolls post nasty anti-union remarks. But recent comments at the bottom of The Hill's story advocated the murder of union leaders.

The story, "AFL-CIO President Trumka sends list of killed Colombian labor leaders to Obama," reported on the labor federation's opposition to a trade deal with Colombia:

Included with the letter was a list of names of the 22 union leaders who have been killed in Colombia, 15 of those after the United States agreed to a labor action plan with the South American country in April to improve its labor rights record, according to the AFL-CIO. Labor has long vehemently opposed a trade deal with Colombia because of its record of violence against union activists.
Comments at the bottom of the story included:

I serve as President of a major corporation in the U.S. All these people want to do is create trouble for us. I look forward to the day we have a government that is sympathetic to the job creators and allow us to handle the unions like Columbia has done.

Sounds like the Colombians don't like the unions either.

Colombia understands the evil nature of unions. and the damage they do to a country.

What do you call a list of 22 dead labor leaders?
A good start…

so Columbia is doing a good job of getting rid of vermin why is this cause for concern?

BY HOLYMAN on 09/26/2011 at 15:35

Could we get them to do it here? There are more than enough union thug bosses already.

The Hill has removed some of the above comments. And it's a teensy bit reassuring to know not all the comments are disgusting. Here's one:

The US should not be party to a free trade agreement with a country with such high levels of human and civil rights violations, and such rampant violence against workers.

I always find it amazing how many of the repigs & other conservative traitors, who have so much time to waste posting on anonymous chatboards, (claim to) own giant corporations. They must multitask really well. :sarcasm:

2. Colombia is a nation. Columbia is a university.
Columbia has a history of uprising.

Best to keep them straight.
