The truly rich -- like Julia Louis-Dreyfus -- are much different (and more like the "average Joe" than most realize) than the obnoxious, greedy rich of ** and the thieves at Halliburton or BlackWater.

4. it's fascinating that they chose to use the title

"America's Heiresses" when #2 is from Monaco and does not have American parents and several more are from places decidedly NOT America eg. India, the UK, Russia. :shrug:

The REAL money -- as in HUGE money -- is being made in India, in Mexico, Russia, Eastern Europe. America is no longer the place entrepreneurs are flocking to to make their fortunes.

trading MUCH stronger than the dollar, I trust that many have -- and are continuing to buy -- property here. But live here full-time? I'm not sure the quality of life in the States can compare to the quality of life they may find elsewhere in the World ... wealthy or not.

16. because if you're shiny you look younger or think you do in photographs

i think this tip goes back to at least the 1920 movie stars, some story about an older star who had to play a much younger part (in pre botox and very rare to have face lift days) and part of the trick involved lots of vaseline on the face

shiny = young because young teens have that oily, shiny skin

i only looked at the first photo linked but it was an older lady who needed botox or something on her forehead but instead she was reflecting light off her face with the shine, even if you have money for botox who always has the time? would be my thinking

17. Mica-based powders

All the rage. It gives a dewy look without the dew. Only problem is on camera, it translates as greasy.

i just don't understand those powders, yes, the artists use great lighting to sell that crap, but once you get home and see what it really looks like...why would you do it twice?

21. Well, to be honest

I use them too. But I do it wrong. I apply liquid foundation and then powder off with the stuff. In person it, looks nice. On camera, not so much. But nobody takes my picture so I'm not worried.

are accomplished in their own right. Julia Louise Dreyfus, of course. One was a pediatrician. Several others sit on the boards of their companies. And then there's the Hilton bimbos.

18. yes it's easier to become accomplished when you start on third base

talented as she is, i don't think dreyfus would have ever gotten a role or been noticed in a sea of beautiful actresses willing to do "whatever" to get ahead if she didn't have something else and in her case something else is family background

easy to start your own company when you're from a well to do family, easy to pay for higher education and medical school

it doesn't amaze me that women succeed, i meet smart women every day, what i wonder about is all of the amazing talent that will never get a chance because our society is so class bound

(to be fair i meet amazingly talented men too that will never go anywhere because the combined impact of their disabilities or race or personality could only be overcome if they were born to an upper class family -- this doesn't just impact women, it impacts everyone)

what would you have accomplished if your dad was rich and you had a head start? there are a lot of DUers that if they were honest with themselves, they know the answer is ONE HELL OF A LOT, the trouble is, human life is so short that if you have to start from behind odds are way against you ever catching up- -- some win the lottery but of course most don't
