That's basically what Gene Taylor is in the shit for. For questioning the decency of Tom Price (R-GA)

That rule, whatever it is, needs to be done away with. I'll say it as loudly as I can REPUBLICANS HAVE NO DECENCY! And I don't think someone should be penalised for pointing out something so obvious

1. I don't agree
The truth is we shouldn't throw out the baby with the bathwater - yeah the Republicans are morally bankrupt, but the hope is that they won't always be; and preserving the courtesies that enable the Senate and the House to function is probably not the worst idea in the world.

2. They're not allowed to directly speak to each other...
He could say, "Mr. President, I suggest that my colleague doesn't ask his constituents for the same sacrifices as he does mine"

6. yep
this is what got schmidt in trouble - it wasn't as much as what she said, but rather that she addressed Murtha by name

3. That is the gentlemanly agreement of Congress. That is why they say
"My distinguished colleague..." when addressing a fellow member.

C-Span had a famous incident in the Brit House of Commons when one MP said "The right honorable gentleman is a JERK!" He had to leave for the rest of the day. There have been some other incidents here in the states usually stated much more diplomatically.

5. That was the infamous Dennis Skinner of the Labour Party
He's been thrown out several times, because they have a rule against calling each other liars. Mainly because if they were allowed, they'd be doing it all day and wouldn't get any work done

Now they have to vote on Barney Frank's proposal to allow Taylor to speak....

...and I really do not see what was so bad about them. Maybe I am missing the point?

10. Sounds like a big to-do over NOTHING!
All he said was that if the guy was going to talk about something, he needed to have the facts. I am still not getting what rule Taylor violated.

12. It's not at all a crock.
The rules of the House, keep order in the House. If Reps didn't have to jump through the hoops of addressing the Chair rather than one another, the rhetoric would be beyond the pale.

8. Powerful words spoken by Rep. Taylor.
If I lived in Mississippi, I would appreciate that man representing me. Sometimes strong words are needed to convey importance. I hope the vote goes his way - what he said needed to be said.

13. Unbelievable....
$16,000 to haul a trailer 70 miles and hook it up. And...a BUSH contributor got the "bid" for doing this. Sounds waaaaaay out of line for the work done, IMO.

11. Consider this irony...
It is now playing yet another time on C-Span to explain the vote. So, instead of just a few people hearing it originally, the actions of the 'gentleman' from Georgia demands the words to be repeated several times to an ever widening audience because of the vote to make him sit in a corner and not talk for the rest of the day. HA!

Now he's a hero to his constituency and the people in Georgia are wondering what this asshat would do if they were sitting in FEMA trailers.

Taylor is allowed to proceed and the Pubbies are HOT! Barney Franks is screaming, "Point of Order" all over the place.

And the azzhat from Mississsippi is whining like crazy!
