How well did that go? Arlen Specter needs to sit down and shut up because his advice hasn't served the public well.

It's obvious that the White House has something to hide and they are afraid of the consequences. We should be reminding them of that every 15 minute news break.

1. That was pointed out to him several times yesterday..
Feinstein in particular pointed out that they'd been misled and stonewalled at every turn regarding this case, she is really pissed off. Apparently Gonzales gave her a big FU when she started to look into the matter a few months ago. She said "in so many words I was told I didn't know what I was doing". She also said that there is an email that went from her office to Sampson that wasn't turned over, so she knows for a fact that emails are missing. Yep, I really think they stepped in it this time.

2. Stilll, a picture is worth a thousand words.
I would love to have the video of Specter being a ... pussy about making Gonzo take the oath.

3. Sure was. It was over the Domestic Spy Program
Blast from the past on that one: http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/02/06/nsa.gonzales/index.html

Now, a year later, it's all supposedly okay and on the up and up. Another case of 'we've made changes and we're not doing anything wrong now.' Specter's belly was tickled pink after that hearing.

4. Specter is getting his talking points from DOJ - take a look at this
email. He's once again trying to "prove" his independent, maverick status - all while covering up for ShrubCo. Besides not swearing in Gonzo, he's also the one who had the staff member slip in the little provision in the Patriot Act that started this whole thing about not getting Senate Confirmation to replace the USA's with the one's who would protect ShrubCo

6. I don't think Specter understand his oversight responsibilities:
In 2005, Specter Promised To Have All Witnesses Testify Under Oath. During hearings on the Patriot in April 2005, Republican Judiciary Chairman Arlen Specter said, "Now, during my stewardship here, I am going to put everybody under oath when we have testimony, as we do on confirmation hearings. But I am just aghast at the necessity for Congress to pursue these issues as if we are after John Dillinger, as to who knew what and when."
