Mrs. Klebold speaks for the first time

I can't imagine the agony that she lives with every day. She and her husband died on April 19, 1999 as well I'm sure.

Susan Klebold's essay in next month's issue of O, The Oprah Magazine, says she is still struggling to make sense of what happened when her son and Eric Harris killed 12 students and a teacher in the shooting rampage at Columbine High School in suburban Denver. Twenty-one people were injured before Klebold and Harris killed themselves.

"For the rest of my life, I will be haunted by the horror and anguish Dylan caused," she wrote. "I cannot look at a child in a grocery store or on the street without thinking about how my son's schoolmates spent the last moments of their lives. Dylan changed everything I believed about myself, about God, about family, and about love."

2. I think that most forget

Dylan and Eric had families, too. I know they committed a heinous crime, but to be their parents has to be agonizing on so many levels.

3. A friend lives in Littleton and her kids went to school with one of these boys

They were at a different high school but had gone to elementary school with him. Played soccer with him, were in the same Scout group. My friend said he was always a problem, a very strange kid and his parents were in denial. Don't remember which one it was. Anyhow, she said the day of the shooting when they heard it was kids most of the neighbors guessed who was involved.

5. i always wondered about the family of those 2 , seems like she has really been suffering

i wonder if the two guys thought about how this would affect their own families. or even the families of the victims.

it wasn't something that they would do and end with death. there would be many people still around who will hurt for the rest of their lives over what happened including their own family.

What is she going to do write a book on how not to parent? And then do a sob story book tour with a grand finale on Oprah?

Puleeze. There are plenty of real victims here: the people murdered on that day, the wounded, their families, the kids who were traumatized at having to see this horror show, the whole town, but NOT this nincompoop.
