Memo to Keith Olbermann: Sir, we need you on the weekends, also.

Please hear me out. This battle, this monumental battle is for the soul of this country. There is no amount of money that lobbyists can pay that can buy my soul, and I imagine that goes for millions of us. You have fought the good fight, Keith, and I have great admiration for you, your courage to speak out for those that have no voice, and your commitment to the truth.

Washington, D.C. has a habit of dumping important news at the end of Friday's workday, and so, when you stay silent for the weekend, Keith, the opposition has almost 30% of the entire week to SPIN their schlock.

I am not asking you to work seven days a week, Mr. Olbermann. You have given so much to Americans, already. But, if you could have a Weekend Countdown, and then maybe take days off, here and there, during slow news cycles, a Tuesday here or a Wednesday there, then we, as a country would be so much better served.

I know that I am very selfish for asking this of you, sir, and of MSNBC for an expansion of Countdown, but you and I, and millions of other people in this country know that it is NECESSARY.

1. Give O'Donnell a day or two during the week on

Olbermanns show and a couple of days during the week on Rachel's show and let Rachel and Olbermann hammer the opposition on the weekends. O'Donnell is perfectly capable of doing a good job if he had a slot.

Rachel and Keith. I'd love to see both shows on, seven days a week. I believe both shows are needed that badly.

7. I'd be happy if they showed the late replays of the big 3 on Friday nights

While I find their programs very informative and entertaining, I doubt Keith, Rachel, or Ed are all that influential, because those of us that watch them, already agree with them.

It might be better to try to get Brian Williams to do a better show on the NBC Nightly News. While I guess not that many people watch the network newscasts anymore, those that do better represent a cross-section of the population, ideology-wise, than fans of the MSNBC commentators.

8. I could not agree more.

Get that load of crappy crap off the weekends. I don't turn on the TV during the week until Hardball comes on. I switch over to Brian Williams halfway through Ed, watch the local news after Brian Williams, and then back to MSNBC for the rest of the evening, usually. (Okay, I'll admit to watching "Dancing with the Stars"--we all have some sort of weakness.)

I'm lost on the weekends. Give us Keith and Rachel in solid shows on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I still miss Dan Abrams. Put him back on during the week along with Ed and Chris.

10. Look, I love Keith to death, but I'm thinking this call for him to be on 7 days a week is ill-timed.

His father's in the hospital, as should now be clear to all, and Keith is spending a lot of time being with him and looking after his health. As dedicated as he is to his work, I think if you ask him whether his first obligation and commitment is to his job and his country or to his father, his father is going to win. For now, anyway.

Those who have parental caregiving issues of their own will surely understand. And then, well, there's respite. A man who spends so much time working and caregiving needs time for himself. When is he to have that, if he works seven days a week?

I wish it were possible to clone him so he could devote full time to everything that's important in his life and still enjoy it, and we could all benefit, but unfortunately...

As far as MSNBC having real programming on the weekends instead of prison/predator/celebrity/true crime crap, I say a big Amen to that.

11. I'd prefer repeats of Keith, Rachel, Ed and Dylan to the creepy LOCKUP stuff.

I'm not sure why MSNBC puts those gross Life in Prison shows on over the weekends.

I'd love to be able to tune in to see more Ed than I can catch on weekdays

and to see what the new guy Dylan Rattigan has been doing.

I wonder what kinds of rating statistics MSNBC is trying to raise with those prison shows.
