Grayson was born in the Bronx, New York and grew up in the tenements. He graduated from Bronx High School of Science and worked his way through Harvard University, graduating in three years, summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He then began graduate studies and simultaneously, in the next four years, earned a law degree with honors from Harvard Law School, a masters in public policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and completed the course work and passed the general exams for a Ph.D in governmen

1. An excellent example of why one should never judge a book by its cover.

The man is way, way smarter than most people assume.

He is a prime example of why it is always to one's advantage to be underestimated.

I think he is a great man, an hope that his future includes some much higher office in our government.

6. He could replace Steny Hoyer - or even Nancy Pelosi - any day as far as I'm concerned.

I like the idea of the woman's place being in the House (as SPEAKER thankyouverymuch), but I think I'd rather have a more overt warrior in there these days. More in-yer-face. Less ready for gentility. Or maybe keep Pelosi where she is and just position Alan Grayson as her alter-ego. She's the good cop, he's the bad cop. She: "don't make me go bring Grayson out and sick him on you now, okay? You wanna do some legitimate business with me, or would you rather deal with him?" Just as long as he's in position to be able to breathe some toxic fire down the backs of their necks.

7. I was thinking the same thing.

I wasn't too impressed with Pelosi when she first became Speaker, but she seems to have grown into the job. You don't hear much out of Hoyer, on the other hand. I think majority leaders (of the House and the Senate) should be champions of their party's causes. I don't think Pelosi will retire any time soon, but maybe Hoyer will.
