Unfortunately, in Virginia, despite that McConnell is truly from the 15th. century with his views, looks like he's going to win....But I think Corzine is going to win a close governor race in NJ...And of course, who can forget NY-23....If Republicans would stick with the moderate candiate (Scozzafava) she'd probably win, but the hard-liners want Hoffman, who has NO chance at winning....Conservatives just don't get it that NY-23 is not KS, MS, TN, etc....And NY-23 isn't even NYC, it's upstate...So let them fight, we'll take the House seat :woohoo:

1. We are being saved by libertarians

2. McDonnell hasn't won yet. If you know anyone in VA, call them and encourage

them to vote for Deeds, Wagner, and Shannon. McDonnell and Cucinelli are the American Taliban.

4. Blame the Senate Finance Comm. for McDonnell. VA progressives are totally discouraged.

We've had a series of special elections this year to campaign for here in NoVa, and those of us who aren't bummed out by the failure of the party to discipline the Blue Dogs on Health Care Reform are just plain burnt out from too much campaigning.

Also, doesn't help that we ended up with the candidate we did.

This election is the ultimate come-down, and an ominous message to the DNC and the White House. Don't disregard the progressive base too much longer, or we're not going to come back and work for you again.

5. Overall, IMO, Democrats have made great progress in VA.

Obama won the state by 8%, first time a Democrat won VA. since 1964...Webb beat Macaca Allen in 2006, Mark Warner walloped Jim Gilmore in 2008...

Though I am troubled that a far right nut will likely win the governor race this year, I think you only get one term (4 years) as Virginia governor?...Deeds might not have been the best candiate, but McDonnell is a complete wacko...I wonder if Deeds attacked him hard enough on his views which might have been acceptable in the middle ages...

6. The Gub. campaign has been awful, without any message. The person I feel sorry for is

Jody Wagner, the Lt. Gov candidate, a bright, articulate, attractive former Sec of State under Warner who should have been the candidate, who could have led the party and taken this race. Hopefully, she'll be back in 4 years.

I also feel sorry for the people of VA (including myself and my family) who will have to suffer personally for the malign neglect by the DNC and party Big Wigs who sacrificed this race to appease the Blue Dogs in Congress who had to be allowed to serve their masters in the health care industry. For the Blue Dogs, their enablers and patrons, there is only shame and contempt for in a few short months since the '08 election nearly bringing the Democratic Party and the country down.

3. The NY-23 race is truly bizarre

You have Markos Moulitsas (Kos) saying that he wants Scozza-Whatever her weird name is to win, while the right wing blogs like Redstate would prefer an Owens victory if Hoffman cannot win.

I think Kos's logic is that Owens will just be another DLC Blue Dog tool, and that it will be a tough seat to hold next year anyway.
