Remember when President Clinton pushed for the "new information economy" as he signed NAFTA? Well, I saw that new information economical engine with my own eyes. Verizon installing it's FIOS. Independent contractor trucks with out of state plates driving around and about 5 white looking American guys standing over about 10-12 small/short dark complected men who appeared to be Honduran? They don't speak English but they were digging these holes in neighborhood yards at least as deep as their shoulders. Now, I don't know about the soil in your neighborhood but ours is clay about 3 inches down. Nice.
Then I google and see this: According to Verizon "In 2008, Verizon invested $344 million in training, and employees dedicated 11.7 million hours to training." For off shore outsourcing.
¡Viva la revolución de la información
Now I know how Verizon can offer such low sign up rates.
Anyway, I was reflecting on the unintended consequences and the irony of the reality between the promises and statements of a politician and his actions. They truly do speak with forked tongues.
(okay, can't resist.... "Can you hear me now?")
