1. Only the truly paranoid are refusing to fill out the forms

and they're a fairly small portion of the population, alas.

I just feel sorry for the census workers who will contact them when the forms don't come back. They'd better all carry pepper spray, at the very least.

However, the heavily GOP districts with the maximum number of wingnut churches just might take a hit and a few might be gerrymandered out of our misery.

5. As I understand it, The Texas census returns are fairly low right now.

I'm not saying that they're all crazy. Some people just don't think that it is important, and it'll cost them later.

2. I received a second form yesterday

The cover letter said that I could ignore that form if I'd already sent mine in. The Census Bureau is really hammering this via mail, ads, public appearances (Gary Locke on TDS), etc. so they can save labor costs of door-to-door canvasers. It seems redundant but they are determined to reach the hard liners I guess. I'd be very hesitant to take a census canvassing job in this climate.

yesterday with an undocumented immigrant. She said she was going to fill it out to make sure her children were counted :)
