I don't think I've ever seen a generic "Moderator" username before. :shrug:

Edit: 'bout 10 posts like this one in the last month. Maybe something new since the new mod crew started up.

1. Nope, this is not new...

Moderators occasionally need to disguise who they are, so they have this alternative to saying who they are...

Protective coloration is one way to see it.

I have seen it before. Can you blame them? Given how abusive some DUers can be with each other when they disagree, I can imagine what the mods face... Not to mention trolling types...

9 years and thousands of hours reading the site, I'd thought I'd seen it all. I'm pleasantly surprised to find something I'd never noticed before :)

It prevents abuse while getting the "job" done. After all, when you become a DU member you must accept the rules of the board.
