Are any of you old enough to remember how fast the Hula-hoop disappeared?

Back in the late 1950's there was a short period of time when every child in the United States just had to have a Hula-hoop, and an awful lot of them (us) did. Then in the blink of an eye their popularity disappeared and they were gone.

The Tea-baggers are following the same path. One day you can't turn over a rock without finding one, the next day they are just an ugly memory.

for some reason my wife, sis in law and 3 year old grand daughter each have one. Grand daughter can almost hula-hoop now. Me, too many years has passed since I could. Wife and sis in law both says they are a good workout.
Frisbee's is what I hardly ever seen anymore.

There are Frisbees everywhere. Even here, at the retirement community I live in, we have a Frisbee golf course designed by a professional. You don't see quite as many in backyards these days, but when you go to parks, they are a common site. Disc golf is a rising fad. There are five courses within a 50 mile radius of my home!

While we don't see kids with hula-hoops in front yards like when we were young, one can still get the hoop.

It seems that kids playing in front yards is what has died off.

America needs a play-date. Then when America re-discovers the importance of play again, maybe specific dates won't be required. And maybe America will regain some balance and the tea baggers will become less stressed and fearful.

America needs to turn off FAUX and go outside for some fresh air, exercise, and fun.

( I think she's 5) is starting her performing career with Hula-Hoops. We saw this troupe (http://www.wallenda.com/index.html) at the Deerfield,NH Fair last fall - truly a class act! Mrs. Mopar uses a power chair sometimes, so we ended up "backstage". Tino Wallenda MC's the show, with a wireless body mic, and it feels as intimate as talking to a friend - so of course we're going to see the little one perform, and talk to the old performer in the crowd, and watch world-class performers from close enough to see white knuckles and a little sweat.
