Peruvian President Ollanta Humala canceled, due to "domestic agenda" issues, his trip to Caracas on November 2 to attend the founding conference of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac), as well as his visit to Mexico, his press secretary announced late on Thursday.
In Venezuela, Humala was to attest to the creation of Celac -a Latin American and Caribbean diplomatic coordination mechanism excluding the US and Canada. In Mexico, Humala was scheduled to meet with his counterparts of Colombia, Chile and Mexico at the Summit of the Pacific Alliance.
The Peruvian Congress had granted him permission to travel on Wednesday, as he requested.
The people of the north-Andean region of Cajamarca, northwestern Peru, are on indefinite strike since a week ago against a mining project in the area.

haven't seen anything about CELAC yet, funny, after how it was being promoted here. looks like an error in the story, should say December 2 and not November 2. Minors are striking in Peru. looks like its pretty serious if Humala cancelled his trip. Haven't heard too much about Humala lately.
