Is there one democrat that draws big crowds, is quoted daily by the press and also is as unqualified/clueless as Palin?

Jesus, at least when we become fascinated with someone they are actually smart and have accomplished something.

If there was a Dem as clueless as Palin and as popular, this place would be ripping into their supporters.

I can't believe the GOP is actually taking her seriously.

2. We used to have Cynthia McKinney
But the party wisely kicked her ass to the curb.

I'm sure we have some equally nutty state reps and local officeholders, but none as prominent as Palin.

19. Nice glaring generalizations. Also part of the reason that the corporate democrats
are going to get their asses handed to them this upcoming November.

If you want to act like the GOP, then don't come crying when you can't score our LIBERAL votes.

You go strong! Keep calling us "crazy" and see how far you get with just hard core right leaning corporate democrats.

13. I remember the oodles of defenders McKinney had right here on DU.
To be fair, I think about 95% of them are no longer with us.

17. Cynthia McKinney was and is presently, a humanitarian and American Patriot.
I don't understand why *some* democrats SAVE most of their hatred for the left wing of our party. It is undeserved. She spoke truth to power and was punished and labeled "crazy." ... I wish she were still serving in the House today. I like "pushy broads" as I'm an unabashed one. :-)

30. To be fair- there are people less educated and more clueless than Cynthia McKinney
Right here on this thread.

And that's not even going into ethics- or the utter lack thereof.

33. True. How many people here have earned both B.A. and M.A. degrees?
;)

McKinney earned a B.A. in international relations from the University of Southern California, an M.A. in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. She worked as a high school teacher and later as a university professor.

The GOP will take anyone who can command an audience/following seriously.
Of course, we probably would, too, come to think of it. But none of our people are so blatantly unqualified and clueless. Even Lincoln has a brain.

with her peeps. If Sarah didn't have her looks and her sexy ways, she would be a nobody. She dresses like a call-girl, makes herself up, flirts and winks -- and spouts sexy talk about the evil Democrats and gives her adoring crowd a collective hard-on.

Maybe she's the Whore of Babble-on.

While I have no reason to doubt this as a cause, it is scary someone with that little control over themselves due to an illness can retain so much power over the entire country.

Between Kucinich and Sanders, we get our fair share of entertainment as well. We're just a little more sophisticated in our humorous political sophistry.

20. It's amazing that the closer a democrat comes to "speaking truth to power" the more effort
is made by the right-leaning corporate wing of our party to label them "crazy" and/or "deranged."

21. Speak truth to..... our alien overlords?
Sometimes crazy is just plain crazy, accompanied by some very cogent rational arguments. That doesn't mean that all of a mentally ill person's arguments are false, just that their arguments need to be more carefully scrutinized.

That being said, discrediting a person as being irrational or mentally ill can work quite well to reduce their audience, and their resulting political power. Thank goodness that Kucinich's and Sanders' voters can see through it, and keep those voices heard.

26. Oh, he's quite bright.
The comparison I was drawing was about how our verbal bomb-throwers come from a different angle. Palin launches attacks "from the gut", our side tends to launch attacks from complex mental arguments. In both cases, it can be exciting to the listeners, but the origins are different.

28. Not really
We seem to like our candidates to be smart and well-educated. We don't celebate abject ignorance. Unfortunately, a significant bloc of the electorate can sometimes be duped into suppoting people for reasons that have nothing to do with their best interests, a phenomenon that the corporate media whores (who know which candidates will deliver for THEM) eagerly encourage. :eyes:

People are bombarded with a great deal of negative press and propaganda.

The door is slammed shut to any new information about the positive contributions of this person.

End of discussion.

Yes, you can call this "a win."
