John Yoo: Obama Afraid To Capture Bin Laden (VIDEO)

John Yoo: Obama Afraid To Capture Bin Laden (VIDEO)

Evan McMorris-Santoro

John Yoo says President Obama is too afraid of the politics of Guantanamo Bay to capture and interrogate terrorists.

The former Gorge W. Bush administration lawyer, Yoo wrote the infamous torture memos used to justify the "enhanced interrogation techniques" that were a central legacy of Bush's Global War On Terror. He now says that the killing of Osama bin Laden will go down in history as one of President Obama's biggest national security fails.

Yoo told CNN on Thursday night that the special forces team sent to kill bin Laden should have instead taken him alive and kept him as a source of future intelligence. Failing to do that, Yoo says, cost the U.S. a valuable asset. That was a mistake, Yoo says.

"If they were going in with no options other than to kill him, then that's a problem," Yoo told CNN's Eliot Spitzer.

Clearly, if bin Laden had been captured, he would have revealed crucial information on his own whereabouts. LOL!

Yoo's got torture on his mind!

1. If Bin Laden had been captured alive
and held somewhere we could be pretty damn sure Americans around the world would be targets for hostage takers seeking to intimidate us into releasing them.

Yoo refuses to see the big picture and only seeks to defend his old boss.

And of course, anti-video game crusader Jack Thompson.

4. This guy needs his head examined. With his history, no wonder
he is willing to stretch credulity. Some people
will really stretch it to try to attack Obama.

Perhaps Yoo is dreamimg over torturing Bin Laden

5. from the sound of it, I think they gathered plenty of intelligence at the site.
I really don't think bin Laden would have been useful at all. He is just pulling that out his rear

13. John Yoo and Glen Greenwald, together at last!
It's only a mystery that their intense and irrational Obama Hatred took so long to render these two fanatics ideological lovebirds.

14. "Shorter John Yoo..."
Steve Benen

<...>

As a friend of mine summarized, "Shorter John Yoo: It's too bad you killed Osama, because if you'd captured him, I could have criticized you for not torturing him."

<...>
