How is it Republicans can claim God as their own but follow the likes of Ayn Rand?
Rands beliefs seem to mesh perfectly with that of another well known Religion/philosophy. Rand's belief:
Manevery manis an end in himself, not the means to the ends of others. He must exist for his own sake, neither sacrificing himself to others nor sacrificing others to himself. The pursuit of his own rational self-interest and of his own happiness is the highest moral purpose of his life.

And now Satanists belief:
While the Church has changed in the past 30 years, the core values of early Satanism remain the same for many Satanists today - self indulgence, self worship, enjoyment of life, personal empowerment and gain.

They seem like a match to me. So how does the Right get away with it?

13. But why are they allowed to get away with it?
I have felt for a very long time that my religion has been hi-jacked and I want it back.

14. Around here they get away with it by expressing their "concern" about this or that
to the right ears, to people who owe their own positions to whether certain other people are "concerned" or not. I will not go into how I know this, but I can swear that it is not conjecture.

It's ALL about JOBS, or more precisely exactly WHO has what job.

8. Anton Levay was a follower of Ayn Rand.
Levay is the author of the Satanic Bible, which essentially preached a Randian philosophy. Interestingly, it was him who identified Rand with Satan (even though he was a Satanist).

11. If there was an Anti-Christ in our recent past (I don't think there was) it
could very well could have been Ayn Rand. She was pretty much anti "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". Etc. Hypocrisy and ignorance. Many who profess Christianity don't have the faintest clue as to what the New Testament is. IMO

18. I'd go with that statement, with the caveat that this is because the object of each is
an aspect of reality that the other is not. The problem is that Logic inherently recognizes and functions on its own limitations. It has nothing to say about anything beyond itself and that is one of its basic assumptions. Religion, on the other hand, inherently assumes that it apprehends and is therefore the measure of ALL, even logic. It contradicts its own concept referred to as "God", by assuming that it is God.

And, for this, we pay their way in our economy.

20. What part of religion
deals with reality?
Are you talking about philosophical "truths' that can be found in some of the teachings?
Or are you saying there is something fact based there?

21. more or less true
but neither are actually involved here.

Ayn Rand is not logic.

and thing professed by these folks is only religion in the crudest sense, in that anything that defies reality but is repeated as ritual often enough has the basic hallmark of religion.

19. I was thinking the same sort of thing in regard to Darwin and evolution this morning.
Perhaps it is time for a well placed article or documentary clearly delineating these teachings of capitalist Christianity/wealth salvation as manifestations of the very philosophies and ideas they denigrate.

22. cognitive dissonance in their reptilian brain stems explains most things about them
Especially the divide between their expressed religious beliefs and their actions. They say they believe in Christ but they act like Ayn Rand.

Like the comparison of Ayn Rand's objectivist philosophy and Anton LaVey's satanism! Both are the antithesis of Christ's socialist philosophy!

Guess this proves most people have no idea what the hell they think.

27. Oh, come on
I have nothing nice to say about Ayn Rand's droppings, but she was not a satanist. She was an atheist, generally under the influence of Nietzsche. Her nonsense was very secular nonsense.

Can you say guilt by association?

31. Jack - read carefully
no where did I say Ayn was a satanists. What I said was that the core value of her "ism" is the exact same as the core value of Satanism and yet the right champion her as another savior.

They just follow the "leaders" and the propaganda.

I've had more than a few "who dat?" responses when I point out people's support for Randian policies.
