Senator Corker Says Medicare and Social Security are “Generational Theft”
If you really need to see where the Republican's priorities are, look no further than this routine Senate Special Committee Hearing on the Older Americans' Act:

From the NCPSSM Blog:

Senator Corker Says Medicare and Social Security are “Generational Theft”

By NCPSSM | May 27, 2011

The new GOP Medicare Strategy these days appears to be if you don’t like the message just shoot the messenger. Yesterday’s Senate Aging Committee hearing provided one glimpse into this approach.

NCPSSM Executive VP/Acting CEO and LCAO Chair, Max Richtman , testified yesterday before the Senate Select Committee on Aging about Older Americans Act programs, like home healthcare, Meals on Wheels, long term care ombudsman and many others. However, rather than talking about these vital programs, ranking GOP member Sen. Bob Corker was much more interested in attacking seniors organizations like ours for not supporting his legislation setting a Medicare Kill Switch with arbitrary spending caps, or the GOP/Ryan Budget bill which Senator Corker voted for or even means-testing the programs, turning them into welfare programs.

(VIDEO)

Attacking seniors’ organizations for representing their members is nothing new. Fiscal commission co-chair, Alan Simpson, has made a career of it. However, it’s clear GOP members in Washington are feeling the heat from their constituents, young and old alike, who do not support destroying Social Security or Medicare under the guise of deficit reduction.

7. And that's it right there. They've stolen the funds
for tax cuts to wealthy capitalists and imperial wars FOR those same capitalists and now they don't want to pay it back.

2. It's generational responsibility....
Something that has been true since time began. Taking care of the elderly is a responsibility, in the same way that ensuring that the young have a future is a responsibility.

These people are lacking at both ends of the spectrum, but they're big on arms and war and prisons. This is what refusing to take care of the inter-generational responsibilities leads to.

3. No. 'Generalational Theft' is the Pentagon budget and the National Debt.
Who owns you, Corker?

5. Thanks! I've added this little gem to Corker's bio on Wikipedia.
Things like this can be forgotten by election time. I hope that, next fall, some Tennessee voters will read of Corker's bio on Wikipedia.

6. Thanks. Every little bit helps...................
We in Tennessee will be doing all we can do. I don't know if it'll be enough to overcome the ignorance of this state, but we WILL try!

As to the gist of Corker's statement, I always considered Medicare and Social Security as an intergenerational PROMISE, not a theft.
