TX, GOP Groups Ask: Should Texas Secede?

Texas Eagle Forum and the Denton County Republican Party are promoting a conference this month that will ask attendees whether Texas should secede from the United States. The Blackstone Blitz Workshop on the Constitution is set for Jan. 15 at a Baptist church in Lewisville just outside Dallas. Among the topics:

* How can we employ the worldview approach to understanding and reviving the Constitution?

* Who is the Constitution’s worst enemy?

* How can we effectively fight this enemy?

* What are the primary Judeo-Christian principles we must define and defend?

* Is there any validity to Humanists’ call for “relativism,” separation,” pluralism/diversity,” “tolerance,” etc.?

* Can Americans do anything to curb the courts – replace judicial supremacy with constitutional supremacy?

* Can Texas secede? If so, should we?

Is there any validity to "tolerance" - see above. Who would Jesus hate?

Can Americans do anything to curb the courts, replace judicial supremacy with "constitutional supremacy" - gee, and whose job is it to interpret the Constitution? I'm guessing these rethugs would be more than happy to establish themselves as a supreme panel. There goes that whole "who is the Constitution's worst enemy" question again...

6. I've wondered if we could sell

it back to Mexico. We would have to relocate the sane people trying so hard to fix things there to another state, but we could let the tea potty crowd relocate to TX. Might go a ways toward deficit reduction. Unfortunately the sane family members there and the very sane friends don't like the idea at all. Seems they are emotionally attached to the state.

even if it was legal to secede, there is not enough support for it down here in Texas.
Texas is becoming a PURPLE state.
Last year there was a poll and like only 14% or something like that agreed with Gov Rick Perry about secession.
Everyone needs to remember that OBABA won all of our largest cities/counties in the 2008 election: Dallas, Houston, Austin, El Paso, San Antonio etc. (McCain won Ft. Worth and a lot of the 'rural' areas.)

I'll admit I don't miss the state but the amusement factor in local politics here isn't nearly as high. Hell, I can hardly tell when the Legislature or the Lege as it was fondly called by us in Texas, convenes here. I'm not even sure they do. Remembering the Texas antics does put a smile on my face. They were a hoot.

30. Thinking Out Loud - It Would Be Interesting To See The Secede.......

then cut them off of all U.S. Government monies. Don't allow their sports teams to participate in any of the leagues. The SuperBowl in Dallas would be a thing of the past. Let them take care of their own roads. Cut them off of national TV and radio broadcasts. Cut them off of the U.S. electrical grid. Basically isolate them from everything the U.S. has to offer and let them fend for themselves. No U.S. government funding for airports, rail, etc.

It would be an interesting exercise and I'm sure that they would fail rather quickly and that it would silence any of the critics of the U.S. government and stop all their criticism of too much government going forward.

I wonder how long it would take for them to crawl back and ask to be re-admitted into the Union again?

I'm sorry for the Dems in the state. I assume if they did secede that the Dems would lead a mass exodus out of the Texas. On the other hand - I would think that many sympathetic to secession from other states would be moving into Texas.

It would certainly be an interesting exercise to watch happen.

I'm sure that cooler heads will prevail - however - and none of this would ever happen. But is sure does make one wonder how this would go.

RW Texans are not exactly a brain trust. Good thing the state of
Texas wasn't one of the 13 Colonies. If it was it certainly would
not be one of the 'United' States of America.

Texas is like a party guest who eats all the food, drinks all the
booze, threatens to beat up all the other guests and threatens to
leave but falls asleep drunk on the couch and expects you to make
breakfast in the morning.

If the were left out of the Union, Texas would become part of Mexico
again, supposing of course that Mexico would take them back.
