Fox News' Chris Wallace: 'You Don't Have To Call The Other Side Socialists or Fascists'
Optimists of the country take note! In the wake of the tragedy in Arizona, could it be that our nation's leaders and media figures may actually try to turn down the hate. First people from both parties united to appreciate President Obama's memorial speech. Then a plan was set in place to end the partisan seating arrangements that have, for years, plagued State of the Union Addresses like the awkward gender split at middle school dance (beware of bipartisan cooties!). Now, Fox News' Chris Wallace is making the startling assertion that we should discuss the health care law without the use of terms like "socialist" and "fascist." Whoa.

Speaking on Fox & Friends, Wallace said he supported Congress getting back to work now after the post-tragedy reprieve (something he also felt was "appropriate") since there is a lot to work on, like health care:

"The point is, these are big issues. This is something that an awful lot of people care about, repealing the Obama health care plan. A lot of people care about it the other way, trying to preserve it. But you don't have to call the other side 'socialists' or 'fascists' or whatever. Maybe we can agree or disagree more agreeably."

2. Only one problem, there's not a lot to work on, since all they want to do is undo what we did.
So, if they want to take every other day off in Congress, that's fine with me.
They aren't going to get their agenda through a divided Congress anyway.

5. When I use the term 'fascist' I use it in the context of an action, NOT based on a 'side'
And when the government stops behaving in a fascist manner, I will be tickled pink to put down that word in this context. Until then, I will NOT limit my discourse just to be polite. That is how we got into this mess to begin with.

7. Evidence of fascism on the right
is far more visible than evidence of socialism on the left. It's reached the tipping point for the right, where even non-political people who would just as soon turn a blind eye toward anything even remotely political are no longer able to ignore what they perceive as nascent fascism (nevermind that many of us have been aware of creeping fascism for long, long years). For a FAUX talking head to now - of all times - call for civility smacks of damage control on their part. There was obviously no call for civility a scant two weeks ago, when the fascists were openly gloating about their plans to ramrod their agenda down the throats of the American people, for example.

8. Won't happen ... consider this ...
Imagine that the right stopped calling the left "Socialists", "Communists" and "Facisits" ... after all, they use all three terms interchangeably.

And let's imagine that Beck, Hannity and Limbaugh stop comparing Obama to Mao, Stalin, and Hitler, which they do again, interchangeably.

Let's imagine that the right stops claiming that the left is full of baby killing, terrorist sympathizing, traitors and tyrants who are hell bent on destroying this country, by shredding the Constitution, forcing their kids to be gay while simultaneously taking their money and giving it all to illegal aliens and deadbeat minorities.

Let's just imagine that it all stopped.

What argument will the right have left to make? None.

They don't have any actual arguments.
