The 500 lb. elephant in the room -- Rachel's show.

Rachel was talking about the fact that before the election, she went to Las Vegas, and there was NO Republican party organized on the ground to get out the vote, using local people. She was being driven around by a newspaperman who said the Repubican Party basically was not there in Las Vegas.

She pointed out that the polls said that Sharron Angle would beat Harry Reid; but he won the election.

Because there was no locally organized get out the vote staff, that tells me what the 500 lb. elephant in the room is, which they did not mention: The national Republican Party and RNC are not supporting the crazy Tea Party candidates. Not sending volunteers to run these campaigns.

My guess was internal polling told them Nevada was a loss and they used their resources where it could make a difference. Either way I'm happy about Harry keeping his seat.

I think traditional republican's are just as disgusted with the extreme Tea Party folks as we are. How would you like it if extreme lefties took over our party or, worse yet, moderate and conservative Dems. I think Joe Scar is a perfect example of a (R) who is a traditional (R) and is disgusted with the Tea Party movement.

Being a moderate Democrat, I think it's better to be closer to the middle. It sure wins elections. Extreme positions tend to be out of touch with reality, and they also tend to lose elections.

I was responding to "justiceischeap", who posted something about moderates taking over the Democratic party. I'm OK with a public health care option and free education from pre-K to 12th grade. But I also consider myself a moderate, meaning I'm OK with smaller government, a balanced budget, and don't like state-owned corporations. I'm a lot more radical than many of you in some areas, sometimes I'm so radical I can't even discuss it without getting flamed. For example, I'm for legalizing drugs, and I think Clinton is a war criminal. :-)

The "moderate" wing (DLC) of the current incarnation
of the Democratic party is more aligned with Republican/Corporate
interests than they are with the poor and working class in
this country.

It only wins them elections in reddish states and
when their ulterior motives are not obvious in the
blue ones.

They are generally afraid of poor people in the inner cities and going door door in their affluent enclaves is just not done. They rely on the media nearly exclusively. After all they control most of the TV and radio stations. Get out the vote is done by robo calls and they only target Republican voters. This is the crack in their system where elections can be one by increasing the voting turnout in Dem areas. It happened in Minnesota with a targeted door to door campaign and led to a slim victory even though the repukes dumped megabucks on Normie and he had the backing of all the media hacks and TV stations.

They help the Republicans do well. The ones who do vote Republican forget Bush crashed the economy, he allowed more immigration than his predecessor, and of course their racism is subsconcious. They just don't like different folk around.
