Who would'a thought? A former secretary of state who supports OWS.
Former Secretary of State Colin Powell said Thursday that he sympathized with the frustration and angriness exhibited by Occupy Wall Street protesters.

I was born in Harlem to immigrant parents, and my parents always had a job, Powell told CNNs Piers Morgan. And so, people are concerned now that there is not that source of an income. There isnt that work source that I remember.

. . . .

Well, you know, I dont know how to be too critical of that, Powell replied. And one of the things that is of concern to all of us is that theres an increasing gap between those who are doing very well and Im doing well, and those who are not doing as well. And those who are not doing as well are not seeing their lives improving. And so, theres frustration and angriness there.

And so, it isnt enough to scream at the Occupy Wall Street demonstrators. We need our political system to start reflecting this anger back in to how do we fix it? How do we get the economy going again? How do we get businesses that have a lot of money stacked up, how do we get them to invest that money and create jobs?

He lied when he spoke about Iraq at the UN, but at least he is right about OWS.

2. Colin knew about Iraq not having any WMD, or even decent conventional warfare tech
and IIRC said exactly that in a government document, a few years before the Iraq invasion. He had ample opportunity to go public with this and did not. Now he works at Time/Warner/AOL, and the Bush Friend Saudis have a majority share in that group. Exceptional conflicts of interest.

3. Right. That's why I said he was wrong.
He had to know what he was doing when he made the speech.

4. It's a start
and while not more than that. It is a move in the right direction. Certainly Powell has considerable baggage, yet for him to even comment in this fashion should be seen as a very positive move for OWS.

5. Interesting how they mellow out a bit when their jobs
no longer depend on pleasing their wing-nut base. Too bad it doesn't really make up for much. :eyes:
