to wisconsin - please recall gov walker
as a louisiana citizen, i too live under a repressive republican governor.

this story - placing the recall efforts in wisconsin into the hands of walker supporters caught my eye last week.

http://www.fox6now.com/news/politics/witi-20111104-reca...

"The paperwork was filed by David Brandt of Muskego and a committee called "Close Friends to Recall Walker." The group must now gather 540,000 signatures in 60 days to force a recall election of Walker.

There's a twist in this story: FOX6 News has learned the paperwork was filed by a former donor to Scott Walker's gubernatorial campaign. State records show Brandt and his wife donated money to the 'Friends of Scott Walker in 2010.'

Because of a quirk in Wisconsin law, as soon as the paperwork is filed to start a recall election, the target of the recall can raise unlimited amounts of money until the election is actually authorized."

if the result of this filing is that the "close friends to recall walker" are trusted to deliver the signatures, the signatures may not be delivered at all.

good luck, and thanks to wisconsin for setting an example for the nation and the world.

2. I think we're all pretty aware of that particular ploy, as well as some others,
such as plans to collect & burn signatures while misinforming the public.

3. The official Recall Walker organization is separate from this
More than one organization can file with the state to start a recall of any particular officeholder. That happened earlier this year when more than one group filed to recall one of the Democratic senators (and all were unsuccessful). The official recall, by a coalition of grassroots organizations and the state Democratic Party, is well organized and they will handle their own petitions and turn them in. This early filing was for the purpose of letting Walker get an earlier start on jetting around the country to his fundraisers. That said, a story has just broken about right-wingers planning to fraudulently collect signatures and then burn them (they actually boasted about this on Facebook). The official recall has ways in place to guard against that.
