but I have many friends who are. I may have a driver's license, but I used to know many people who can't get a license or state issued ID because of advanced age, disability, and/or inability to drive. It's unfair to deny people the vote just because they cannot afford the time and/or the money to retrieve documents to get a government issued voter identification. Voter ID laws serve only one purpose: to keep Democrats from voting, especially the old, the young, minorities, and disabled persons. I'm tempted to use the voter ID laws against Republicans. How would they feel if Democrats launched a campaign demanding multiple forms of ID from Republican voters, especially bank account and/or credit card numbers, social security numbers, and other sensitive information? I don't think they'd like it in the least, but it sure would be fun to turn the tables against the Kochroach Bros. and rethugs.
There is a simpler solution to prevent ballot stuffing and other forms of election fraud on the voter level. It's called paper ballots and a vote using a fingerprint to secure it. No two people have the same fingerprint pattern, not even identical twins.
By the way, I signed the petition.
