I think it would good if some investigative reporter types could take a good look at him. How can he let a man facing these kinds of charges walk out of jail without putting up a penny. That does not smell right.

1. The money does not have to be yours to post bail
Nor should it be, then only the rich would be able to do it. The real question is why was bail allowed at all?

5. As I understand it,
he did not even have to put up any money, the bail amount would only be forfeited if he fails to show up for court. Most bail is conditioned on either putting up the whole amount or giving a bail bond company ten percent which is non refundable.

9. Why should he have to put up any of it?
I've never heard of the accused being allowed out only if they put up the bail themselves... That woould be fucked up.

Again, the real question is why was he allowed bail at all? The judge should have refused bail considering the seriousness of the crimes.

11. You are correct...
Sandusky is free on an unsecured bail bond which requires no money to be paid upfront and only goes into effect re the $100,000.00 if he fails to show up in court.

"Sandusky, who was arrested and released Saturday on $100,000 unsecured bail, faces seven counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and numerous other charges, including aggravated indecent assault and endangering the welfare of a child."

http://www.cnn.com/2011/11/07/justice/pennsylvania-coach-abuse-charges/index.html?hpt=hp_t1&imw=Y

"An unsecured (surety) bail bond is where a defendant signs a bond stating their promise to appear before the court. If they fail to do so, they promise to later pay the court an agreed upon bail bond amount. An unsecured bail doesn't require that the money be offered up front."

2. Judge Likeslittleboystoo. He's probably in Sandusky's kiddie porn ring, because
anyone with an ounce of compassion wouldn't let him out on bail.

Jerry Sandusky has been arraigned on 40 counts of sex crimes related to boys, and was released on $100,000 unsecured bail -- meaning he won't have to pay unless he doesn't show up for court.

District Judge Lesilie Dutchcot ordered the Penn State football coaching legend and children's charity founder not to have any contact with children.

17. Wow!! The judge who adjudged Sandusky is also involved in his Second Mile organization?
Is that a conflict of interest?? Does this seem right??

20. Um, pretty much anyone with money in Centre County
does something with the Second Mile.

This is like noting that a New Yorker is known to like the Yankees...or the Mets!

Oh my GAAAAWD! What a connection!

22. Also says she has Yorkies, as opposed to children.
Somehow I am not surprised. I don't know a mother who would have set the bail that low.

18. As odd as it may seem, our justice system assumes he is innocent until proven guilty.
Sandusky has no prior convictions and he hardly would be considered a flight risk. Hence, despite the heinous accused crimes the situation remains as it is for now.

19. Is the system not to take into account the safety of the public....
in determining whether bail or remand is in order as well as the no prior convictions and flight risk aspect? Given the 'heinous accused crimes' alleged, would one not think the safety of children should also be a consideration? It is less about the bail, imo, than about the fact it was an unsecured bail bond meaning neither Sandusky nor anyone else had to put money up front in order for him to walk free.

The question is not the system's assumption of innocent until proven guilty, it is that some/many are incarcerated, remanded on charges less serious than those levied against Sandusky and many more must come up with serious bail money up front whereas Sandusky did not.

Why is that, I wonder.
