Boehner says offer is fair.
I read on my AP iPhone app that Boehner is saying the GOP plan is a "fair offer" to those who signed the Grover Norquist no tax pledge.
Well from what I have read about the plan it is totally smoke and mirrors. $300 billion in revenue increases, but first $3.7 trillion in revenue cuts for an overall $3.4 trillion in cuts.
Basically as I understand it, the revenue increases will be by eliminating the tax deduction on mortgages on second houses, increased fees and premiums on medicare, and selling government assets. BUT, to get this the Bush tax cuts become permanent AND the top tax bracket is dropped to 28%. I don't know about you but I know some people who own two homes but I wouldn't consider rich, certainly not in the top tax bracket.
So, basically the middle class once again get to pay more and the rich pay less.
While I have no problem getting rid of the tax deduction on mortgages on second homes this offer is total BS.
What will it take for the GOP to realize these offers to give the crumbs of their tables won't make anyone happy. The 99% don't want the crumbs and the 1% are too greedy to even share their crumbs. :banghead:

1. Counter offer. Make the tax increases first and we will match them with cuts to the MIC

3. Any deal that places a higher burden on the poor and middle class is hardly fair.
Instead of eliminating deductions wholesale and lowering rates, how about capping deductions at $500K and not lowering rates? This $30B/yr tax revenue shift is nothing more than a Republican shell game.

4. We need to stop thinking that the Republicans are not getting it
Edited on Wed Nov-16-11 07:16 AM by lunatica
The fact is the question isn't what will it take for them to get it. There is no question. They get it. They know exactly what they're doing. We're being screwed over deliberately and on purpose and for their own personal benefit. The Boner lies, but it isn't innocent naive lies based on any honest misunderstanding. It's deliberate in our faces lies that will kill us if that suits their purpose. We are fools if we think otherwise.

The question is, when will we get it.

5. Boehner also thinks he plays "a fair game" of golf, too! Boehner used to work at a fair . .
. . as carny on the midway, who cried everytime someone asked him if he had finished school!!!

If Boehner had to wear a set of coveralls to work while he was in Congress with his sponsors' logos on it, like race car drivers do, there would be the same oil companies, the same phone companies, and the same defense contractors that sponsor race car teams!!

The GOP stands for the Greedy Oil People.
They have become the party of big oil, fracking, and big drug companies.

Kill the Keystone XL pipeline now, once and for all!!
