I'm looking for suggestions of works that are relatively appealing and easy for people who know nothing about this stuff to understand, and that are founded on respectable scholarship.
I'd like works that address: media control, p.r. and media literacy, internet control, election reform (including problems with electronic voting & tabulation), labor issues, the monetary/banking system, public education, and the history of all of the foregoing, as well as tactical matters re- nonviolent protest & civil disobedience, the challenges of democratic reform, and whatever else you think important or helpful.
Thanks!
